I am a 16 year old ginger male with very acne prone skin. I take two cold showers a day that are about 15 minutes each and I use a simple foaming cleanser during both. I moisturize afterwards and also drink lots of water. Does anyone have any tips since my acne still wont go away? I also get it on my neck which is very annoying. Any help is appreciated.

Your acne will wont go away with topicals it just temporary remedy. You need to take isotretinoin min. 6 months.

Whoa! You for sure don't want to go to isotretinoin as your first option. It's approved for severe acne that does not respond to other treatments for a reason. Be very careful with it.

The Regimen works. Also, eating low carb and taking fish oil (up to 6 a day) and zinc (50mg a day) should help from the inside.

I suffered from cystic acne for a long and long time and nothing helped me but isotretinoin.

For sure it must be last opinion with resilient acne.

I agree it's a very strong drug and has risks (apparently) although I saw nothing but great feelings/results. But I would be very clear that my opinion is when/if the acne has the chance of scarring, don't play games, go on something that works. If it's minor acne, just do doxycycline or differin or whatever is offered. But if it's moderate or severe and you don't respond to things quickly, you don't want to play games over months while you scar, that is not something you want to play around with for your life.

That is my opinion.

First, try not to take multiple showers unless you need to (for sports or other reasons). Showering will dry out your skin causing your body to produce more oil to compensate. When you shower, try not to let shampoo or condition get all over your face/body. Maybe it's puberty that's causing acne. It could be a number of things.

Seeing a dermatologist should be a consideration. You can be prescribed something like Retin-A or Tazorac. Those are standard treatments to help with acne which many teens have. They will not work overnight. You have to be persistent with its application and it can take months for you to see good results.

Accutane, isotretinoin, or anythingsimilar is something to consider when you exhaust all options. It's harsh stuff so it's hard for us to recommend anything because 1) we are NOT doctors and 2) we don't know how severe your acne is. If it's not severe, you should try over-the-counteror prescription topicals. If your acnecauses immediate scarring, talk to a doctor regarding all options.
