Hi - I was wondering what the effect, if any, of hot humid weather is on acne. I'm asking b/c I suffered a very bad breakout last year that started around this time of year. {It was my first summer back on the east coast after many years in southern California, which isn't nearly as humid as the east coast). Nothing, including prescription topical products, helped for several months. I eventually discovered the Acne.org regimen around October and my skin was cleared by the end of the year. For the past few months, I've been on a scaled back regimen (wash and moisturizer twice per day, benzoyl peroxide in the evening every other day) to help with the redness/itchiness I had on the full regimenThough not perfectly clear, my skin has been doing well overall. However, over the past couple of weeks, I've been breaking out again (though not nearly as severely as last summer). It seems to have coincided with the weather becoming consistently hot and humid (I'm currently in the southeastuntil NYC reopens). Does anyone know if hot, humid weather affects acne (if not in everyone, then perhaps in some)? Thanks
I'm not sure about humid weather, but too much sunlight can dry out your skin which causes your sebaceous glands to go into overdrive and secrete too much oil.
It's possible the heat and humidity could be causing you to sweat a lot which could be leading to increased bacterial growth which could be causing your breakouts
