Hello everyone,
I would be happy to get help from you. Maybe someone else also suffers from this crap.
I am male and am in my late 30s.
I am still struggling with oily skin. But it is also dehydrated.
For a long time I had these little plugs, like little strands, sticking out of every pore on my face.
Chin, forehead, cheek, nose, everywhere.
So I'm pretty sure it has to do with the oily skin. Is it dry oil that builds up and sticks out? Or is it something else?
If you look around the Internet, it doesn't seem to be that rare.
Or can it be something else? Demodex for example? But then in the whole face ??
Does anyone have it and do you have an explanation for it?
I'm really happy about answers
sounds like dried sebumwhich your body is trying to excrete from your pores.
yes, i suffered with this problem for a long time.my body is prone to over producing sebum, resulting in acne. a current drug im taking calledLymecycline is helping alot.
other than asking for your doctor for help, the only 3things i know which reduce sebum production is avoiding drinking milk, avoidingfizzy drinks ( cocal-cola etc) and vitamins..like vitamin d / zinc etc.
Demodex can plug up every pore and yes they can stick out as you describe. It happened to me. But there can be other causes like a fungal infection or a bacterial infection. The effective treatment for each of these conditions is totally different. For demodex you need an anti-parasitic treatment. For a fungal infection you need an anti-fungal medication. For bacterial, you need an anti-bacterial medication.
Get a dermatologist to actually test your skin for the cause. Many dermatologist just do visual exams. But they need to do a definitive test for the cause of the condition. They can test for demodex by either doing a light skin scraping or using the sticky glue on a microscope slide - stick it to your forehead like a pore strip, wait a minute and pull it off. The results of either test are put under a microscope to count the demodex. Demodex don't like light, counting them under a microscope can be a little tricky.
If Demodex is the problem, there is a highly effective, inexpensive, 2 week anti-parasitic treatment for Demodex. It was published in the May 2013 issue of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases. This was a proper medical study of 120 patients, 30 each with 4 different skin diagnosis, split into 2 groups. One group got weekly Oral Ivermectin alone. The second group got the 2 drug combined treatment with weekly Oral Ivermectin and daily Oral Metronidazole. After decades of being misdiagnosed with bacterial acne, the combined 2 drug treatment worked for me. Link to the paper is below. Cut and paste into your browser to read it. Take a copy to your dermatologist in case they aren't familiar with this treatment.
