Hi 🙂 I just made this account, I hope I'm posting in the right place
So I've had acne for a few years. I think it started around age 14 or 15, and I'm 20 now. The thing is I have acne all over my body.
It's mostly gone on my face, with just some leftover marks, redness, and minor scars, but about a year ago my jawline and neck started breaking out occasionally. I've always had chest acne, and I'm not sure if it's gotten better in the slightest. It's probably the worst spot. I also get breakouts on my thighs, tho that's not as important to me. My back is also the recipient of the occasional pimple, but I wouldn't call it acne.
I know people get concentrated acne in typically one spot, but it seems odd that I have some form of it all over me. Can anyone help me identify why?
I personally think it may be more of a genetic thing. I've tried quite a few over the counter medications without much success, tho it's fair to say my skin care knowledge isn't supreme. I always assumed it would go away on its own, but now that I'm an adult I have to take some sort of action, right?
Hi Billy355,
Yeah, it sounds like a genetic thing.
If you want to get rid of acne naturally, you have to target the 4 root causes of acne:
1. Irregular skin shedding (Hyperkeratinization)
2. Overactive Sebaceous glands.
3. Skin Bacteria (like P. acnes)
4. Inflammation
- ForIrregular skin shedding (Hyperkeratinization), try over the counter Vitamin A (called Retnyl Palmitate). You can take 1 pill every day, which has a quantity of 10, 000 IUs.
Don't take any more than that, though, since too much Vitamin can be toxic.
Also use Salicyclic Acid body wash, which reduces acne byexfoliatingdead skin cells off your skin, and reducing sebum production.
- For overactive sebaceous glands, try a combination of zinc picolinate, saw palmetto, and vitamin by (or a vitamin b-complex).
Zinc picolinate and saw palmettolower dihydrotestosterone, a potent hormone that binds to receptors in your sebaceous glands and causing sebum levels to go into overdrive.
Vitamin B6helps enhance the effects of zinc.
- For your skin bacteria and inflammation, use benzoyl peroxide. It's an over the counter topical cream that you lather on top of your zits.
It is super effective for reducing inflamed pimples, and kills all acne bacteria on your skin.
You'll see a difference with benzoyl peroxide after a few weeks! But the best results come after 3-4months.
Do each of these steps every single day, without fail, and you should have a good portion of your acne clear up over time.
And if you're still not satisfied, there is always the visit to your dermatologist! They can prescribe a synthetic retinoid, like accutane. Of course, it comes with some side effects.
Best of luck!
P.S. if you choose to use the natural path, use ALL of the supplements recommended above, not just one or two. That'll guarantee that you target the root cause of your acne Cheers!
