I only have this one gigantic zit on my face. It was one zit that just started to spread across my cheek. I got a antibiotic from the derm and it went away but only lasted a week. Then I got another zit near the original spot and it is continuing to spread! I put some differin gel on it. I don™t understand it. It is the ONLY area on my cheek I don™t even sleep on that side.

I have had acne but I have never experienced this spreading. Any idea why?

Basically, the bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics and OTC medications. As a result, they have now become more aggressive, sensing that they are being attacked. I mean, wouldn't you do the same if others were out to kill you?

There's really not much you can do except take stronger antibiotic. This is why you shouldn't just blindly take antibiotic on a whim. Also, stop using antimicrobial soaps on your face. This has a similar effect.

What I do suggest is that you take 2 pills of aspirin to control the inflammation. Prolonged inflammation will leave scars.
