Okay so i just turned seventeen and in the past few weeks it's begun! The dreaded acne! And I'm so lost. I don't know what kind it is and how to treat it. So i have a few questions that will seem dumb but I'd love help
When's the right time to pop a pimple?
I have painless slightly red bumps on the right side of my mouth . They've been there for two months now and nothing has happened to them. I've tried freezing and Calamine lotion to no avail. I was strimming today and a rock slit it and it started to ooze and bleed, and the idiot i am i thought it was a good idea to try squeeze at it a little. Now, there's a red solid liquid (presumably dried up blood? I really don't know) protruding out of the slit and i have no idea what it is!! I feel kinda lost.
And lastly, what's your best tip to prevent acne outbursts and treat ones that have happened . Is applying Calamine lotion every night useful? I really don't know
I've attached an image of the said red mark, but my camera isn't the greatest .
Thanks so much
Hey there, I'm 18 and have almost the exact same type of acne on the sides of my mouth. You really should not pick at it because it doesn't help it go away faster, and it ends up leaving a dark mark the more you pick at it. I don't really think there is ever a right time to pop a pimple, if there is a very obvious white head on the pimple then maybe, but usually it won't help.
I would really recommend going to a dermatologist and asking about retin A cream, it completely got rid of those spots for a good year for me, but they unfortunately came back, although not as severe, because I stopped using the retin A. I think retin A would help your skin a lot. A sulfur mask would be helpful for drying the pimples out. Make sure you are drinking a lot of water, don't pick/touch the pimples, and have a good face routine, that helps. Good luck!
Hey, I'm also 17 and have acne similar to use. I've used Benzoyl Peroxide 5% with Clindamycin 1% and Tretenoin 0.05% and my face has cleared for the most part. The best advice I have for you is to leave them alone, picking at them only exacerbates them and leads to a higher chance of scarring.
I'd also like to note that I do not think that Benzoyl Peroxide 5% with Clindamycin 1% and Tretenoin 0.05% exclusively cleared my acne. I am actually going to try TruSkin Tea Tree Serum in place ofBenzoyl Peroxide 5% with Clindamycin 1% because I'm not a fan of how drying and harshBenzoyl Peroxide 5% with Clindamycin 1% is on my skin. I can keep you updated if you'd like.
Here is my skin routine for reference:
Morning:
- Cleanse using Skin Medica Foaming Face Wash with Salicylic Acid. I use a Conair Face Brush (I highly reccomend, I noticed the brush made my face glow after the first use)
- Tone using Lush Tea Tree Water. I like this because it helps calm reddness and helps control oily skin.
- UseBenzoyl Peroxide 5% with Clindamycin 1%
- Use Maracuja Oil as face oil. This is a fantastic face oil. It really makes my skin look healthy and reduces inflammation.
- Use Neutrogena Water Gel with Hylauronic Acid. This is the best moisturizer I have use for oily skin.
Night:
- Cleanse using Skin Medica Foaming Face Wash with Salicylic Acid. I use a Conair Face Brush
- Tone using Lush Tea Tree Water.
- Use Tretenoin 0.05%
- Use Maracuja Oil as face oil
- At night I use Cetaphil Moisturizer because it's less expensive and I don't get oily skin at night.
Hope this helps!
Popping pimples should never be done. it will only leave acne scars in the long run which you will regret more. I'd say check for natural remedies first as some would react well to it and if not, that's when you apply chemicals on your face.
Don't try to experiment or self-medicate as it could only make things worse. Seek a dermatologist's advise if you have to.
And oh... drink lots of water as much as you can! Will help flush out toxins in your body too which might also cause acne.
