I had this little under the skin bump that was just kinda there for a while and then about two days ago, it became an inflamed pimple. It was really bothering me and although a whitehead didn't reach the surface, I could see stuff right under the skin so I figured I'd try to get it out (I know, baddd idea). The skin broke quickly and it started to bleed and then a lot of clear liquid came out, but no pus. I started freaking out because I thought maybe I just pushed the infection farther. However, it doesn't really look that way to me. The area is SUPER swollen right now, so it's hard to tell, but it no longer hurts like a pimple and the pore seems to have flattened out. Is it possible that it just needed to be drained? Could a pimple be sucessfully popped without pus coming out? Help!!!
I used to get those kinds of pimples on my cheeks and I'd do the same and got the same results. I squeezed and picked at them endlessly. Bad idea. I got fingernail print scars. Your best plan of action is to absolutely leave this pimple alone and any future pimples. If already popped though, you can try Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers, they work wonders for sucking the gunk out of the pimple and will keep you from further picking. Alternate from using those and get a heavy moisturizer or Neosporin to spot treat.
Hope this helps!
Thank you!! I'm still kinda freaking out over this because I feel like when you squeeze and only blood/liquid comes out, it's a bad sign. I woke up today and the area is still a bit swollen and tender, but it's not red or cyst-like. Where I popped is obviously red, but totally flat. Do you think I'm in the clear and can just work on healing the broken skin?
Yes blood and clear liquid always came out of mine, that's when you know it's bad. Seriously, don't touch those kinds of pimples (or any). Yes I would just work on healing the broken skin! You might be okay if you don't squeeze further. Like I said, those Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers are great and for healing you'll want moisture. Don't dry it out more.
I can vouch, nexcare absorbing covers are awesome, great for those of us who can't fight the urge all the time. As far as anything you should be fine, those are rather common but you really shouldn't be popping them. Are you on a regimen already or are you just starting out?
