I've this type of acne all over my face. I used to have clear skin . It started to show up on my forehead last year . I can't afford to see a dermatologist right now because I'm young and not in a situation where I can get money from myparents. I've tried home remedies and some tea tree cream but nothing really helps. Can anyone please help me ? I get a lot of comments on my face by people telling me to use this and that . Some people make fun of it too.I got depressed.
I've had this before, it's called Malessezia or Pityrosporum Folliculitis. When you said it specifically started on your forehead, that's a huge indicator. the best thing would be to go to a doctor and ask for Ketoconazole 2% cream & to go on a course of Ketoconazole or Itraconazole pills but as you have said, you can't (in case you ever do though, ask for a prescription for those). so in your case, there's still a lot you can do. This condition is a yeast (your skins own natural yeast) overgrowth on your skin. you need to make a couple dietary changes for at least 2 or so months. cut back (you don't have to cut off completely, just reduce your intake) on sugar, caffiene, unhealthy fats and simple carbs during this time - the yeast feeds off these. get some probiotics - at least a 20+ Billion probiotic (with yeast overgrowth, it's likely that you have an overgrowth of bad bacteria in your body aswell -especially if you've been on any antibiotics.) probiotics will help restore your body's natural flora to fight off the overgrowth of yeast. discontinue any occlusive/oily moisturizers and/or oils if you are using any - these feed the yeast and allow it to survive and proliferate. instead use a light oil-free lotion. You wanna use all gentle and oil-free skincare for awhile. Invest in a candida cleanse/detox supplement or instead, you can try a combination of grapefruit seed extract, garlic supplements (these are natural anti-fungals). reduce stress and get sleep, fruity maybe but sometimes skin conditions like these can have a lot to do with your mental and emotional health, more than you'd think (mine would get so much worse when I'd stress too much). try not to sweat much for a while (the yeast feeds on sweat). as for actual topical treatments that are over-the counter you can try this shampoo called Nizoral - its a 1% Ketoconazole shampoo that you can find at places like Walmart. i only recommend this if your skin isn't sensitive to fragrance and sulfates though cause you basically have to wash your face with it and leave it on for a bit. there are anti-fungal creams such as Lotrimin Ultra but I never had much luck with it but there are people who have. you could try diluting pure tea tree oil in water and putting that on all the effected areas after washing your face, before moisturizer or even diluting some apple cider vinegar in water and using that as a toner. If you can't get to a doctor, your best bet would be to try a combo of all these things. Folliculitis sucks, I had it REALLY REALLY bad over 2 years ago and most doctors and dermatologists didn't even believe me when I said I thought I had folliculitis and it wasn't just regular acne. they ended up making my skin worse until I saw a doctor that finally listened to me and it cleared up after going on meds. I'm sure you can find a ton of other options by just doing some research on it on different things you can try. it might require some lifestyle changes though. There is hope though, wishing the best of luck!
