Hi,
I used to have quiet good skin and just have spots sometimes when I'm near my period. However in the summer, because I'm studying aboard so I was back to my country in the summer and the different of the timezone made me really hard to go to sleep so I had a few spots came up. When I was back to the UK, I decided to change my skincare ( I used to use a brand from my country but it's a bit annoying that when I ran out it costed quiet a lot to send them to the UK ), so I have used Kiehl's products for a while now. They're Recovery Midnight Concentrate, Hydro-Plumping Serum, Rare Earth Minimize Pore Lotion and Creamy avocoda eye cream. ( and Rosehip Oil from Triology )
At first my skin felt fine, smoother and spots disappeared. Suddenly 2 weeks ago my skin turned really dried. So I stopped using the Rare Earth Mask. It turned out a bit better and again, 3 days ago I woke up with massively dry skin, my face went all red and loads of white heads appeared on my forehead, my cheeks and chin. I haven't touched any of the products since then, but I have been using avocado + honey fresh face mask at night, hope to moisture it but it doesn't seem to work really well. Now my face feels really itchy, totally red and I can see my skin peeling off badly. Is it because I'm allergic to the new range of skincare and I wonder if there's any medication to stop it eg Benadryl for allergy ?
Thanks in advance x

Yeah, what you are describing does sound like some sort of allergic reaction or irritation caused by something you were using. It's a good thing that you have temporarily stopped using those products! I'm not an expert on this particular thing, but it should go away on it's own with a little time. Just use a basic/gentle cleanser & moisturizer for awhile to give your skin time to calm down.

Is that mask you have been using homemade or store bought? There could be other ingredients in there that are irritating your skin. You would be better off just using plain honey as a mask if you are looking to calm your skin down & add moisture. Raw honey masks are particularly good for calming down skin that is red & irritated.

Since it's a reaction to a specific skincare product and not normal allergies, I don't think taking something like Benadryl would help... But it's not like it would hurt either.

Thanks for your reply.
I make the mask with half an avocado and a tablespoon of honey. I would try it with just plain honey to see if it will be okay. Thanks a lot for your help xx:smileys_n_people_11:
