OILY SKIN - Oil Glands

Hi Everyone,

Im back on the forums again to discuss something and more so question it.

I realised the other week when I was driving and was thinking why on earth do i still have very oily skin? I remember that about 16-17 years ago just before I started getting oily skin, I was in the shower and accidentally put the water on hot and stepped back into the shower and burnt myself. I didnt receive major burns or swelling.

Could i have possibly and accidentally destroyed my skin cells, or the tissue or even the surface under the skin where cells are meant to regulate the skin?

If so how would I find out if my skin on my face, ears, scalp, neck chest and back have been altered or even functioning nerves? This may sound a bit out there, though Im still wondering why I still have oily skin after so long, trying foods, diets, weight loss etc. etc.

I dont particularly think it is hyper-hidrosis, as my skin produces oil not so much sweat.

Have my oil glands which are meant to do their job - have they stopped working with the flow of moisture circulating around the main upper body regions etc?

What are people thoughts, even if you are a specialist in the area or have some ideas and how I can check if everything is in order, that would be great.

Thanks.

Stan

Hi...from what I know, there's no way one incident of being exposed to hot water would not cause oily skin. The age you describe coincides with the age where hormones can produce more oil. Oily skin is genetic and/ or hormonal. Androgens in your bloodstream ( male hormones) often determine how oily your skin is, especially DHT which is a type of testosterone. So I don't believe its because of anything you've done to yourself.
