I had acne(only on my forehead) since i was 14 (22 now). I'm full vegan now and acne went from forehead to jaw. Pimples pn forehead was like cystic huge acne breakouts, like a few big inflammed pimples. Now on my jaw there are like 10 - 20 like relly small inflammed pimples on each side of face. The overall look is actually worse than it was when i wasnt vegan and had them on forehead. How the f is this happening and why?

It is not just caused by the food you eat but also because of hormones and therefore a good skincare routine is a must. You're doing the right thing with eating healthy food, but you need to do the right thing with the topical treatment of your skin too.

I was a vegan for a while(had to switch back to vegetarianrecently because of health reasons), but I read a very interesting article that explained that people who have acne, and ESPECIALLY vegans/vegetarians with acne are typically zinc deficient. Zinc is a trace mineral, but it's very effective at killing acne bacteria, reducing inflammation, and controlling hormones. It also is a strong antioxidant. Here are some additional signs you may be zinc deficient:

-Dry Skin
-Frequent Hangnails
-Diarrhea
-White Spots On Nails
-Diminished Sex Drive
-Prone To Colds

Zinc Picolinate and Zinc Monomethionine are the best forms of Zinc to take(they have highbioavailability).

So, WHY do Vegans/Vegetarians tend to be zinc deficient? Well, it turns out most plant-based sources of zinc are not easily absorbed(the only exception is pumpkin seeds). Hope that helps!!
