I have a serious case of clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, little comedones, you name it. Primarily on my cheeks, forehead, and nose. I'm desperate to get rid of them and have tried a lot of things to get rid of my acne over the years, but my face has only gotton worse. Now I'm not someone who touts that "I've tried everything" so I'm open to suggestions. Any ritual, diet change, or product that has significantly reduced your clogged pores please share. Only two restrictions, I already eat a very healthy diet and do not want to use anything that will dry out my skin a lot. Additionally, if it matters at all, I'm a 14 year old female who's had acne since I was 11. Thanks!
Try steaming your face. Boil a kettle or pan of water, transfer it to a large bowl and sit with you face over for 10-15 min with a towel over your head so the steam does not escape. The steam will open up your pores and then you can exfoliate. Try baking soda mixed with coconut oil. It will draw out oil and dirt and will leave your skin soft and moisturised. Do this 2-3 times a week. You could also try adding something like tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar to the boiling water.
Hi Mad Tea,
I wouldn't recommend coconut oil on your face as it's highly comedogenic... Might do more damage than good.
Can you describe your healthy diet in more detail? Do you eat cheese, milk? Please get detailed.
Have you ever tried Dan's Regimen? It's a good place to start, however in my experience it's better tailored to guy's skin - it can be quite drying, and the moisturizer in the Regimen isn't very moisturizing, but also looks terrible under makeup. The Benzoyl Peroxide in the Regimen is definitely a must have product for any acne sufferer. It's excellent quality and comes in a long-lasting huge bottle too.
I could recommend some easy to find over the counter products (like a gentle cleanser and a good moisturizer), but I need to know more about your skin first.
Is your skin dry? Oily? Dehydrated?
But the first thing you just have to do is drink a ton of water. Please start here, and you'll already see a difference in just a few days.
If you drink one or two glasses now, quadruple it! Make sure you have water handy at all times.
With Love,
Olena
