Hey !
I always have had a few pimples, well, small ones here and there. I am 19 so it can't be puberty. It got really bad this summer, that and my shoulders, one or two on my chest and my back is a nightmare. However, this past month has been hard. I had an allergic reaction to clay, so I had about 50 cystic pimples on my jaw. That has cleared up and I am left with this, a mix between blackheads, whiteheads and pimples as if the first two isn't enough. I hate it. I work 10 hours a day, so I can't just hide in my room like I used to do. All I use on my face is natural treatments, mostly honey, tea tree oil and argan oil. I need to see a dermatologist but I don't get paid until the 2nd. So. Tell me what you experts (I love you all) think. Thank you !
Hormones seem to be the culprit, that and the heat from you working and it being summer probably isn't helping things. I seriously suggest that you ask your dermatologist for birth control. I'm not sure what your opinions on that are, but I was in the same boat as you about 6 years ago before I started birth control. My acne has recently started coming back, but it is slowly getting better after changing my birth control again. I've had acne since I was 10 years old and after 5 years of nothing working, my mom and I finally broke down and I went on birth control at the age of 15. My only other option was accutane at that point. If you're not against taking birth control I would save yourself the headache and just go for it. I hope this helps and I sincerely hope your situation gets better.
Your acne is not bad! Instead of snacking on processed foods, up your intake on vitamin a and c everyday. (Carrots and broccoli) you can thank me later.
I am actually on a diet, and I haven't eaten any processed foods (junk food, soda, fast food, anything i didn't make) in about 6 months. All I eat is fruit and veggies so I knew it wasn't from something I eat.

If it's hormones, would I need to take another other than birth control ? I thought it might just be congested skin/clogged pores, but it gets worse and worse. How has it worked for you ?

Hate to break the news! Technically at 19 years of age you are still in the final stage associated with pubertal growth. Your endocrine system will continue to develop and adjust until the generalized age of 25.
Your acne could be hormonal based, but it could be bacterial based as well. Or it could be insufficient exfoliation? It is just a guessing game trying to decipher the root cause of acne without collecting the specific data. Hormonal acne is usually accompanied with other emotional/mental symptoms due to the lack of sustaining a homeostatic environment within your endocrine system.
Bacterial acne is usually acute in its presence in that it spontaneously appears out of nowhere it seems. A lot of times the promotion of propionibacterium acnes is resulting from a lack of balance in the G.I tract (ratio of good bacteria:bad bacteria is unfavorable) or maybe SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) rather than unsatisfactory hygiene habits.
Birth control is just a hormonal contraceptive that when used in regards to acne treatment its main goal is to lower androgenic activity at the adrenal glands, ovaries, and local androgen production within the dermis (yes your skin can give itself acne). Also increases the presence of SHBG which is the regulatory protein that transports sex hormones to the appropriate sites. Blah blah..
