Is this amount of blemishes normal for a teenager? I just turned 18. Was wondering if this is severe enough to visit a dermatologist?

Thanks.

yours is not bad at all! Those red marks just look like macules that should normally go away within a couple months (mine normally take like 5). If the marks turn into scars though, definitely go visit because there are so many simple procedures to fix the scars. Hope this helped :)

Thanks Megan. When you say "go away", do you mean a 100% fade in which it looks like there was never a pimple there in the first place?

It's not severe yet, more like moderate. But you been around for a long time bro. I'm surprised you're asking for help. I don't think derms are much help. You're better off going to a naturopath (skilled/experienced with acne) before it gets any worse. Has it been this bad or has it been getting worse overtime?

Yeah i've been around a while. Figured 'hey im 16, acne is just a stage' and pretty much just kept waiting it out. 18 now and since my face isn't clear yet, decided to create a thread.

I think its been a lot worse, especially around 2 years ago. Thankfully now i only have 1-2 active spots at a time, sometimes no active spots. Only problem is the marks pimples leave behind which seem to stay there forever.

PS. are you sure its moderate? I did a google search and this is what "moderate acne" on google images looks like

Oh, I misread your comment. I thought you were asking if it "was severe." But I see you were asking if it was severe "enough to see a derm." Looking back at it, it looks light. The reason I said moderate was because of the 3 big marks in the last picture. They looked like they could turn cystic. My bad.

No problem, yeah i occasionally get those types of spots, which go away in about 3-5 days on average.

All of mine have always just completely faded away as if there wasn't even a pimple there in the first place but everyones skin is different so I have no clue. I wouldn't worry though, it doesn't look like those will scar they will most likely just fade away

I had to face the same problem when I was young too and it disappeared when I was around 22 then don't worry too much.

Appreciate it :)
