Okay to start off, I am a 14 year old male, and I have been suffering from moderate, although in comparison to 99% of the people I see on a daily basis, severe acne, on all of my face, my back, chest, and minimal on the stomach, legs and butt, as well as sever dandruff, it started probably back when I was 11 or 12, but back then I blamed it on bad hygiene, but now I wash my face twice a day using biore deep pore charcoal cleanser using a clarisonic brush once a day, as for my body, I use a Neutrogena body acne cleanser with I believe 2% salicylic acid once a day using a lufa, as for my dandruff, I use ketoconazole 2% prescribed dandruff shampoo. About 8 months ago I went to a dermatologist who prescribed the shampoo, along monodox 75 mg twice a day for 2 months, as well as differin .3% twice a day which I used on my back chest and face, my dermatologist said the monodox would clear the remaining acne and the differin would help control and prevent be acne from occuring. Which everything seemed to be working just as he had said, and so about 2 months went by and went back in for a check up and he took me off the monodox, and then added acanya once a day, and lowered my differin to once a day as well. So I do as prescribed and my acne continued to get worse, after about a month and a half, I just simply stopped the differin, and went on for a month to see if the acanya helped at all, it didn't, so I swithced it and went only on the differin for about a month to see if that would've helped, and it did, slightly, not much but a bit, so as of now I have been using just differin on my chest back and face, and its not getting better at all, if anything its getting worse, so now I'm scheduled to see a dermatologist a new one on July 17th, and I need to know what to ask about like suggestions of medication or treatment plans, like maybe chemical peels or laser treatment? All help is welcome. Thank you. I forgot to mention this, but I'm also very athletic, and play football during the fall but work out year round. I was thinking about accurane, but most doctors tend to veer away from prescribing it to younger teenagers which I am, so I figure that is probably not an option, and multiple friends of mine have suggested epiduo any thoughts?
Hi Marc,
I am a 18 years old male and I have a severe acne on my back and moderate acne on my face. My back acne started at 16 and I have tried everything ( antibiotic, laser , pdt , cream... ) but still have some and a lot of scars. I'm scheduled to see my dermatologist on July 17th like you. I think I will ask for accutane because I don't know what I can do more.
Sorry for my english, I'm italian
