Can Hard Pimples Go Away On Their Own?

I've had a pimple for a week now that has become very hard and doesn't seem to be doing anything (healing). It is above my skin mostly. Can these go away on their own, or will my best bet be going to get a cortisone shot? Sooner the better?

Don't worry, it will go away. About a month ago I had one too - it was quite big, hard, red and painful, located on the middle of my chin. I was freaking out because I never have had anything like this before. It appeared when I was away from home so I didn't have any topical products with me. After 10 days it got flatter and after two weeks it went away. There's one thing that may worry you - mine left a red mark that isn't going away no matter what I put on it. But it's just a small red-brown spot, nothing more. It can be easily covered with make up.

If you don't feel like waiting cortisone shot should be alright. I've never had one personally but I know people who did and it flattened their pimple/cyst in one day.
