I'm 2 weeks away from the 3 month mark and most of my acne is cleared up except some red acne marks left over from the acne and 1 white head on the chin. The reason I ask is because even tho it's been 2 month and 2 weeks my skins is still dry and flaky from using the product so it I wouldn't want to use it for a year because of this inconvenience haha. I know I should wait at least 3 month but should I keep using for more months to get a better effect from the product (like clearing some of the acne marks and keeping acne more at bay and such) How long do people usually use retinoids for?
People usually use retinoids indefinitely if they work. If you stop the product your acne will come back.
So should I drop from 1% tazorac to 5% because my skin still hasn't gotten use to the dryness effect after 2 months. And is that an actual side affect? I'm currently 19 and I started getting mild acne at 18.My father was the only one to have acne and it was only in his teens. He used accutane to cure it.

You could do that or try applying it everyday or try buffering it with moisturizer.
