Hi everyone,

Unfortunately Im allergic to BP, so Ive been on the regimen of washing twice daily with johnsons baby wash and applying AHA+ twice daily for 2 weeks and I felt like things were clearing up and looking better, but I woke up this morning with a red bump on my problem area that hurts to the touch. If this regimen is working, which I think and hope it is since the rest of my skin is getting clearer, is it still possible to think that this was forming before I began the regimen 2 weeks ago and now it is just surfacing? Thanks

Usually 2-3 months.

2-3 months? Wow I always thought it was closer to 3-4 weeks? Anyone else have an opinion?

Totally common to see periodic breakouts in the early weeks of any treatment as latent acne surfaces. Since you're doing your own regimen and not THE Regimen, it's really hard to say how long it will take to work, since it hasn't been tested. Even on the Acne.Org Regimen, it's the rare person who clears in only 3-4 weeks. It often take users that long just to get used to the treatment. So 2-3 months is much more realistic. Also, remember that AHA does not kill acne bacteria, so seeing a few pimples is probably more realistic. But since you are allergic to BP, having a way to manage your acne and keep it under control is at least better than letting things get out of hand.

Wish you the best of luck on your AHA regimen...hope it works out! :)

Thanks for the response. One question I had tho is since it takes your skin around 1 month (4weeks) to go through a complete growth cycle, where would this latent acne be after that? Or does it just take that long for your skin to get used to a new type of treatment?
