I know what you mean. Have you tried applying less of the moisturizer? This does the trick normally.

I think my coconut oil moisturizer combined with tee tree oil makes it worse. I think it moisturizes too good and cause my pores to be clogged. I bet thats the same thing happening to you i would suggest not putting anything on your face for a week and only using face wash.

Stop using oils on your face ( either coconut or jajoba ) .. Use a moisturising soap & for moisturising use " Calamine + light liquid parrafin " but only if needed becz a moist. Soap will moist. Your skin

@Lenny198...since , you don't mention your age and how long you have been getting those whiteheads, and how severe it is.

And if you are using anything to treat them, like benzoyl peroxide, or sulfur, or if you use any exfoliate.

Maybe, it's not the moisturizer, but the cleanser, if the cleanser is blocking the pores ,causing to leave a residue, maybe it's not the moisturizer for your skin type.

Or the moisturizer is not the one for your skin type either .

First you have to figure out your skin ,normal, combination, dry .

And then find the cleanser ,moisturizer or if you need an acne treatment to treat those whiteheads.

If the whiteheads are not that severe,it could be something like seborrheic dermatitis,in seborrheic dermatitis the eyebrows tend to flake ,get greasy, with small whiteheads.

I'm 52 , suffered with acne and seborrheic dermatitis when I was younger,I couldn't stand

moisturizer on my face, or any oils.

Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are both great ingredients to look for when searching for a product to treat whiteheads. Additionally, prescription retinoids like tretinoin or adapalene are excellent ways to treat and prevent whiteheads. I will suggest you adapalene 0.1% , but not use benzoyl peroxide on other parts of your body excet face

@Lenny198...now I have another question for you ,well a couple.

Have you seen a dermatologist?

Have you used any prescription topical,or antibiotic for your skin condition.

Maybe, you consider your acne to be only mild.

I ask this ,so I can have an idea about the kind of skin condition you might have.

My best advice ,would be for you to see a dermatologist, because that way ,you will be able to know if its acne caused by bacteria, but from my experience ,most dermatologist think acne is bacteria related and they prescribe antibiotics, that ,I don't really approve for long term use.

My daughter used to get these annoying whiteheads, she was prescribed ziana ,which is a retin a +clindamycin topical antibiotic(clindamycin can not be used on people who have colon or digestive problems)and the oral clindamycin has worst side effects, dentists recommend this antibiotic sometimes(don't ever take it).

There is also this website called cosdna.com where you can enter the name of an ingredient and it will tell you how comedogenic and irritating the ingredient can be

Take care.

Again,my best to you.

@Lenny198...I think I have an idea about the cream that the doctor gave you.

would you be able to give me a name ?

Was it a hydrocortisone or a hydrocorticosteroid cream?

If so ,then I will be able to tell you,why your skin is reacting this way.

@Lenny198... ok ,retin is not recommended for people with eczema .

Eczema is a condition when your face sheds skin or flakes every 3 to 5 days ,so it means that the old keratin or old skin stays on the skin and doesn't come off ,it sticks to the skin and causes flaking, blisters bumps, kind of like a seborrheic dermatitis, excessive sebum production that doesn't come off and blocks the pores ,causing redness, itchiness, burning, little whiteheads, blisters.

For this ,a glycolic acid product is less irritating than salicylic acid.

Some people use prescription medication the prescription drug will help all of the above that I mentioned ,but using the hydrocortisone and hydrocortisone creams will make the skin thinner and cause acne,if used for a long time.

I know this because I used them on and off,and worst, without prescription,my mom used to buy them in Mexico. Never do that .

But if you are planning on using an over the counter exfoliate, then you need to kill the bacteria ,with something for acne, like topical sulfur or benzoyl peroxide.

Just be careful.

Look at the site I gave you ,so you can look up the ingredients.

Also ,you have to stop having dairy, and sugars if possible.

Eat chicken, little red meat ,eggs ,vegetables and mostly bananas and apples,I like watermelon in the summer, but it has too much sugar.

See how you react to citrus and berries, peanuts, chocolate.

I know ,it's no fun .

Take care.

Use hydrocortisone cream to get rid of sensitive skin but only for a week or two not long becz it may cause acnes , or dont apply any soap or cream on your face for 4-5 days ( wash face with only water ) your skin will turn normal ..then you can start using Saliclyic acid or Adapalene gel on white n black heads ..alongside you can take azirothromycin 500 mg tablets

You are welcome, and thank you for taking the time to read my responses ,I know they are long .

As I told you my daughter cleared with ziana ,but after a year ,she started getting dry flaky skin,I put some over the counter products for her to use, using a salicylic acid cleanser ,she used and continues to use this cleanser, from Neutrogena called deep clean cream cleanser oil free ,the thing with salicylic acid cleansers is that since salicylic acid is washed away if not left on the skin , so she just uses in the shower and leave it on for a couple of minutes, then rinse .

She was using benzoyl peroxide up until about 6 weeks ago ,then she started having dry flaky skin again, for the signs that she is showing,it seems that she might have eczema. Now she uses dove beauty bar soap to wash( soap doesn't agree with my face), ,salicylic cleanser to exfoliate and to moisturize and treat the pimples ,grapeseed oil mixed with about 2drops of lavender oil(lavender oil is not to be used by people who have bladder, kidney or brain disorders). I just came back from visiting her and I couldn't believe her face has cleared, she only had a tiny little ,non pus pimple, when she was having acne problems again, about 6 weeks ago.

I tell you this, so you know how all skin problems are different.

Whatever treatment you decide, avoid sulfates in cleansers or shampoo.

Remove your make-up well and try to use oil free make-up.

I also don't react very well to oils on my face and have never tried the grapeseed oil ,the lavender oil I think I did once ,to dry a pimple, but if used ,by itself lavender oil can be irritating.

Take care.
