Hello all,
So here's a little bit of background info.
A couple of years ago I started getting bumps around my chin area, this would be accompanied by a burning sensation before they would show up or as they were developing. This then began to spread across my entire face, sometimes they would also itch.
I went to a couple of doctors at the time but they said they couldn't see anything. This is because they are really small and can only been seen in certain light. They give a really horrible bumpy texture to my skin. Prior to this I rarely had any issues and only got the odd spot on my t-zone around time of the month.
Over the past couple of years I have been to numerous doctors, only to be told that they are a mild form of acne or blocked pores. I have been prescribed Dalacin-T which just made it worse and more inflamed. I have also been prescribed BP but I decided against using it in case i cause more damage. I wish they would just do a biopsy so at least I know what I'm up against! At one point they got really bad and irritated and actually did kind of resemble acne but I'm not sure I believe it is. The reason being is because my whole family has always had clear skin but around the same time as me, we all started getting these bumps which makes me believe it may be something contagious. My parents both have amazing skin and have never had an issue with acne either.
The saddest part is that they are leaving small scars on my face. I get really insecure in certain lights and just feel constantly depressed about this. I know it's not nearly as bad as the issues some people have on here and generally in life but it's really upsetting when one day you have clear skin and the next it's just horrible and bumpy, even makeup makes the texture look even worse.
I have attached a picture below.
Anybody? I know none of you are necessarily skincare professionals on here, but you know how difficult it is to sometimes even be taken seriously by those in the medical profession!
Especially when it comes to skin issues. If anybody has any ideas or has experienced anything similar, please help . I'm at my wits end.
Hi!
I have been struggling with very bad break out all over My face for the past year( doctor would have put me on Accutane but i cannot take it for some Reasons and i wouldnt either) i still think mine Wasnt the worst but it was moderate/ severe.
I tried everything but nothing really cleared it up, ( antibiotics, duac, differin etc)
So recently i have been doing green smoothies and eating 1 carrot with olive oil each day and My skin is Getting much better, ( it has reduced My skins inflamation greatly)
You need to use oil( olive or coconut) with the smoothie cause the vitamin A and K are oil souble, means you dont get it if you dont consume oil with it.
My recepie:
1) Spinach 70 g( can be more also(
2.) 2 bananas ( for the taste )
3.) ginger ( bit for the taste)
4.) few slices of apple
5.) olive oil 1 teaspoon
6.) bit water
7.) bit juice
8.) sometimes Frozen strawberrys ( make it taste even better ) )
9.) good quality honey
I drink it Once a day and i also eat 1 carrot per day and i add olive oil to it- within a week or 2 i Saw some improvement, so try it out and it might also help you )
My skin in september
Hi EleFC, thanks you for your response. I will take it on board as green smoothies have a number of benefits and I imagine it can't do harm to the skin, taking in raw ingredients with plenty of vitamins and minerals.
However my concern is more about first figuring out what I actually have.
And wow!! there actually seems to be a massive improvement!
SP12...those whiteheads are a nightmare I remember first getting them on my chin, they itch and burn and they leave this redness, I have been hearing people around complaining about these pimple whiteheads, I have always have acne but had managed to control it, ounce those pimples set on my skin, it has been impossible and a nightmare, to control my acne.
The dermatologist doesn't know what I'm talking about.
I have been writing on the rosacea forums under seborrheic dermatitis thread, started on page 46,.I'm convinced it's a fungus mixed with my pimples.on occasion my family have gotten one or two of these, I'm so confused really, and I think I might be scaring the people on that thread, but I don't know where to write about.I'm not a crazy person I can assure you.
My dermatologist wants me to go to the pro's in Stanford.
My forehead and cheeks are clear of them but left a lot of scaring, and half part of those things that decided to stay,, my problem area is my chin, around mouth and sides of nose.
My conclusion is that this might be fungal related. And this seems to affect a lot of people.
I don't know from where or what they came, because I'm used to be ocd clean , myself and my house and everything around, now I can't even cook or go in the sun without getting those stupid whiteheads irritated.
The dermatologist say,seborrheic dermatitis,eczema, acne, or I don't know.
I think the reason I have suffered more is that my immune system is low.
All I can say is that I want back my sanity and my pure only cystic acne without those whiteheads, the worst is the pain, the burning, the redness, the itchiness.
noche, thanks for your response. I suspected it may be some sort of fungas, although I don't know how I got it. The doctors have been useless and haven't even taken a biopsy but instead just assume it's clogged pores or mild acne. I would believe them too if it didn't itch and burn and didn't show up on the faces of other members of my family around the same time. It really is so frustrating, especially since it's leaving scars and holes all over my cheeks. I have a few on my chin and forehead but they aren't as bad as the cheeks.
EleFC, thank you so much
@SP12....don't get discouraged,.
Its very frustrating.
I know all about the itching and the burning , and what they leave on the face ,a scar .
My dermatologist assistant told me this, do you know that I have a patient with about the same problem like yours.
I live in California,I have always have suffered with acne , but this is different , this makes me feel like crying everytime ,I get one of this whiteheads.
They were kind of dormant for awhile , but then a cold sore , started the problem going again, obviously the dermatologist put me on valtrex, the results, hummm nothing happened.
I have stopped kissing and hugging my kids, even when they insist that my problem is only acne.
Then why the burning is not going away.
The reason I went and try the vicks vaporub is because I read online that it could be good for cystic acne,a couple of days ago I went to you tube, and there is this guy talking just for one minute , saying if you go to the gym and got ringworm, use vicks vaporub or blue star ointment, but wait he says, Vicks vaporub.
As to this day , my face is healing,I was about to go and write on the rosacea forums under the seborrheic dermatitis thread about what I'm doing and how things are going, when I saw what you had written, and decided to let you know a little bit more.
Do not squeeze any of those things, salicylic acid will make them come out for awhile but then will make the problem worst.
I was trying the gold bond extra strength powder for itching, but it has salicylic acid, then today I decided to try the blue star ointment during the day , the worst thing , it's like I poured acid on my face.redness and itching,
Vicks and the acne.org benzoyl peroxide treatment are my best friends right now.
The vicks I used consistently for about 2 months and now every 2 to 3 days,I don't use my fingers to apply I use qtips and never dip the same qtip in the vicks . I go by sections my forehead, cheeks and my problem areas last. Then at the end I apply extra vicks vaporub, the reason I use the cleansers that I use and the make-up remover towels it's because they contain glycerin to remove the petroleum based vicks.
I can't put any oil on my face and yet my face can take petroleum based vicks.??? Explain that to me.
this whiteheads that I get when they break , they leave a whole, but after they heal I can see a dark point next to the pimple that healed, really weird , and if I try to force them out, sometimes they will or won't and make a mess .
Sometimes they look like they can come out and be easily extracted but if attempted to extract they
shrink and go hiding, then I have the risk of getting one on the side where I pressed at them , so , it's better just to leave them alone and just let the vicks vaporub dissolve them , and if they show , do not remove, the vaporub will dissolve them.
If you find what this is, please let me know.
Again, I'm not a crazy person. I'm just really frustrated.
Hi Noche,
I thought I would let you know how I am doing after that frustrating experience.
After paying many visits to the doctors/dermatologists and not receiving the help I needed, I decided to take things into my own hands.
There are several things I tried. Initially I started off by using antifungal cream this helped to reduce these bumps but didn't completely get rid of them. It also dried out my skin extensively.
I then used good quality sea salt dissolved on boiling water which had been cooled before applying it to my face every night before bed. This brought out the clogged pores which had been accompanying the bumps and dried out some of the bumps.
Finally, I used manuka honey. This made the most difference and I believe if I had used this in the first place the problem would not have persisted for as long as it did. This also helped fade pigmentation, redness and heal the skin in general.
I am now left with some scarring and a few scattered tiny bumps but nothing compared to what I had before.
Maybe this could also help you.
Best wishes.x
