Gday acne.org community,

Im a 24 yo male currently residing in Australia, I come to the community today in the hopes of gaining some advice for people who have been in a previous similar position to me.

I currently have very mild acne, however suffered in my teens which sorted itself out as i grew older, I live a very active lifestlye and have eaten a strict diet for the past 6 years, mainly for muscle gain and athletic performance.

My current issue and reason for posting today is 3 weeks ago in the hopes of trying to remove some irritating forehead bumps i purchased Cetaphil dermacontrol oil free cleanser and did not hesitate to use it, previously using nivea sensitive face wash i firgured cetaphil had a great rap. However immediatly post use my face felt increadibly stripped, and 30 mins later my face wash producing so much oil you could fry an egg on top.

I Immediatly stopped using it as a similar circumstance had happened in the past with overuse of BP however that corrected itself within 48 hours. (occured a few years back).
Fast forward 3 weeks to today and I am still getting this issue, Have a shower wash my face with just warm water feels great for an hour and then boom I become A sticky oily mess. For the past 3 weeks i have been of all products and only using water to rinse my face, I have tried to supplement Vit A, B, D aswell as zinc to no avail. The doctor i saw was no help as i went to ask about the oilness and ended up with a prescription for antibiotics to kill bacteria.....

What makes matters worse is in 10 days i will be travelling overseas to be with my gf for the holiday break and have a pretty booked out schedule, any advice or suggestions from people who have been through something similar would be great, aswell have first hand experience how to manage this issue. Its obvious that I am overproducing oil however I am very worried that it has not corrected itself.

Thankyou for reading
God bless

Hey!

I also deal with oily skin. Have you tried hemp oil supplements? They have made a huge difference in the amount of oil I produce. I take 2 gel caps per day. Started seeing a difference in about a week or so. As far as an instant topical solution, some members on here have had luck applying plain milk of magnesia topically for oil control.

Hope this helps! :)
