Okay! Here is my latest attempt to clear my face...being that this forum is filled with a plethora of people who have tried a PLETHORA of different skin cleansing methods, let me hear if any of you have tried anything like this.
I have been using medications for YEARS to prevent my acne, and never tried just restarting and not even using a medicated face wash. I am now suspect that all of these chemicals and exfoliants that I have been using may have put my skin into an irritating cycle of irritation.
I want to try to RESTART my face by using only cerave foaming face wash twice a day and see where that takes me...has anybody hypothesized similiarly and find positive results??
I mean what did they do before all these medications??
My ONLY concern with this is that along with my mild acne, I have red marks...I am a little concerened that without meds these will last about...forever, but I can deal with that once I have NO ACNE...is this a smart move?

Giving your face a break from the treatments sounds like a sensible plan if it is only irritating your skin at this point. Along with the face wash I would still use a moisturizer in order to keep your skin in balance, otherwise the face wash may dry it out over time, which can cause irritation breakouts.
I'd also take a look at your diet, see if you can make any changes there...maybe skip the snack and soda aisle, eat more fresh fruits and veggies, make healthier choices when you dine out, drink plenty of water. Some people also cite a link between acne and dairy...something to look into...
But see how you go...you may find over time that you want to build in a treatment again...were you doing the Regimen?? For how long?
I'd focus on getting clear and worry about red marks later. Red marks aren't great but they aren't permanent and will fade eventually even if you do nothing. Trying to take care of the red marks at the same time as the acne could be what irritated your skin. Oftentimes it's not the treatment causing the problem but the additional steps to take care of another problem.
Sometimes in the quest for clear skin it's two steps forward and one back...but hope you'll get things moving in the right direction again soon!
