Okay I'm really hoping you guys can help. I've been struggling with acne for awhile but lately its gotten worse. I don't get the easy occasional pimple, but a whole lot of other crap that's making me severely insecure. For one, I have clear bumps all over my forehead. In some lighting, you can't even see them. But in others. especially direct sunlight, they're very prominent. No acne medicine seems to help, or lavender or tea tree oil. They have no "head" either. There's also some on my cheeks. I have never had a problem with this until this summer. My biggest problem is my chin. Its literally a war zone down there, and its been going on for about a year. At the top of my chin (the little indention where your skin begins to curl into your lip) there are tons of tiny raised bumps, similar to my forehead, but these appear under the skin. Secondly, I'm constantly getting white heads down there, at any given day I have at least two. There are also lots of scars, I think. Lastly, my chin is always bright red! My forehead and cheeks are also, but my chin the is reddest out of them all. I'm getting depressed by how messed up my face is and I need help badly, but I can't go to the dermatologist. I wash my face with a benzyl peroxide scrub by clean and clear twice a day, use lavender/tea tree oil toner, and spot treatment (clean and clear salicylic acid), and use moisturizer once a day since twice seems to make my face oily. I also eat fairly healthy and am fairly fit. Without using a scrub, I get huge whiteheads. Any advice would be appreciated.

The way you're breaking out looks like typical hormonal acne, since your breakouts are concentrated in your t-zone. The rough bumps on your forehead sound like noninflamed acne.

Yeah, your chin looks very red...perhaps a touch of rosacea (?) but only a derm could diagnose that...how long have you been using these products? My guess is that your skin is irritated, either by the products themselves, or possibly from rubbing/scrubbing. Does the skin on your chin (or anywhere) feel tight, dry, sore? Do you wash your face gently and how long do you wash for? You really only need to wash your face for 5-10 seconds before rinsing. Any longer than that can irritate your skin. I'd also recommend moisturizing twice a day instead of once...even if you just moisturize your chin...this may help with the redness.

The darker red marks may be hyperpigmentation from old acne. These are not scars and are not permanent. They will eventually fade away on their own.

On the bright side, the rest of your face looks nice and clear! :) So keep up with the healthy diet and exercise, and be sure and drink plenty of water. This can only help.

Try aloe vera! Helps reduce redness!

Thank you so much- I think I've been scrubbing too hard and using too many harsh chemicals on my skin. I stopped using spot treatment down there and its helped with redness (also pore strips? not sure why, but they also helped with the under skin ones too) I think my face is just naturally pinkish and my chin was irritated. I'm going to invest in some good facial color balancing makeup Overall, I'm trying to be more gentle and its helping!

Yeah scrubbing is definitely a no-no and I'd stay away from the pore strips too...all these can cause redness and irritation which can make breakouts worse. Sounds like you have very sensitive skin so take care to treat it as gently as possible...glad to hear that just being gentler is helping!

Try to narrow your products down to only one acne treatment...or use one in the morning, one at night...using multiple acne medications/treatments simultaneously is never advisable. Maybe try using your BP scrub followed by moisturizer in the a.m., a nonmedicated cleanser (or even just warm water) and the salicylic acid, followed by moisturizer in the p.m...just an idea. I'd stop using the toner for the time being until your skin gets back in balance. I think you're right that too many chemicals are drying out and irritating your skin. Happens to all of us so you're not alone! It can take a little trial and error to find the right combo that works for your skin.

Let us know how you make out! :)

Healthy diet plays a role in preventing skin problems like acne. If you are familiar about Manuka UMF honey, it controls a broad range of bacteria including acne and assist the healing process of damaged skin and reducing scars. It is a natural treatment for acne so it has no side effects. Hope it helps.

Ok so shortly after this I bought clean and clear face wash with avocado (it was new? Looked good). I also bought sephora cc cream. Big, big mistake. The makeup was very, very clogging but I didn't realize it and continually caked on more. Also the clean and clear has wax and fragrance which I just found out today. I'm breaking out worse than I have in months, maybe even all year. I have the noninflamed acne all over my face, but in huge clusters on my forehead. (On a brighter note I've stopped the spot ttestament on my chin and it's gotten better! Still those pesky under skin bumps though...) I ordered a Clinique system that had great reviews esp for my skin type (combination oily). I'm looking forward to it coming in.

For now I'm glad I'm on break and don't have to see my classmates. However, I do desperately need help with these noninflamed bumps.

I'm suffering mentally over this. I know it sounds stupid, but I can't look anyone in the eye, am losing sleep (funny bc all I want to do is sleep) and overall it's ruining my long anticipated break ):

The best thing is to see a derm for your acne. I found prescription topicals and using mild cleansers help (like Cetaphil).

Thank you. I made it sound very bad, but just because at the time I was feeling very down about it.
