I think she was washing her face between applications. Just because she slept in it doesn't mean she didn't shower in the morning, and "apply and reapply."
Think of makeup as applying low-level toxic dirt and grease to your skin.
It's not supposed to be there long term, it's not supposed to penetrate. The reason so many products can be non-comedogenic is because the chemist who created it made sure it only sat on top of your skin. Short term, this can protect you from the sun and pollutants, as makeup is made up of minerals and pigments. Makeup is also made up of proven low-level carcinogenic ingredients. Read any cosmetics chemistry dictionary, and most of the ingredients will say "should not be left on skin."
Think of your skin as an excretory organ, which it is. What happens when you don't go to the bathroom? Sickness, potentially toxemia, and eventually death. (Which reminds me, ever see Goldfinger? That's about a step away from living in waterproof makeup.) Your skin is designed to sweat, produce oil in a steady, clean, flow to keep itself bouncy and youthful, and to receive oxygen. Sweat is how skin purges toxins and those must be rinsed away or at the very least exposed to antibacterial oxygen. Acne can't live in the presence of oxygen- why would you suffocate your skin? (especially with waterproof makeup the most comedogenic makeup there is.
The best thing you can do for your skin is to have absolutely nothing on it at all. Everything you put on your skin engages in a chemical reaction with your skin, and with the air/pollutants in the air. Even coconut/grapeseed/jojoba/olive etc. oils oxidize on your skin, and trap dirt from the air/added makeup, making a mess of your pores. Oxidation = free radical damage to cells, which is what causes aging and its degenerative diseases.
What is acne? Occluded pores, trapped sebum and bacteria gone rancid, inflaming the pore. What does makeup do? Occludes pores, traps sebum and dirt, which goes rancid, gets inflamed.
Makeup inhibits healing and compounds your problems. Every girl learns to never sleep in makeup if she wants good skin.
Every dermatologist will tell you to keep makeup away from active and healing acne.
Psychologically, it can help you feel calm and confident enough to get through a 6-10 hr day, but it really needs to be removed once you've excreted sebum and sweat into it all day.
Plus, have you ever seen a woman who has been layering her makeup on throughout the day/night? It looks like a cakey, ratchet mess- and there's almost always visible acne and scars underneath.
If you must use makeup, Body Shop has a tea tree BB cream. But you still have to wash it off... Makeup isn't healing, it's an interference with the healing and excretory process. It makes acne worse.
If you're lacking in dietary fat, a little bit of lard is ok. Too much will do the same thing that too much sebum does under too much dead skin (or cosmetic waxes.)
Yes, your face does sweat. Every pore contains sweat and sebaceous glands that are constantly working, flushing out dirt and toxins. Drinking lots of water aids this process. Consuming the right ratio of fats does, too. Eccrine sweat glands are the ones everywhere but your crotch and your armpits, which have apocrine sweat glands. When things aren't flowing with proper moisture and oils, they turn into infections. Plugs, and blobs of pus. If you have a ton of acne, this is all happening trapped under dead skin.
Here's a video on the biology of acne and why you don't want to have crap all over your face. Open pores are acne-free pores.
A great model of skin biology and the purposes of all its elements
whats so bad abt makeup anyway? its just somekinda powder + cream n idk...
yea wtf right, as far as i know 40 yr olds dont look like tht, they probs have million wrinkles on their face while she doesnt
