Hi
I had moderate to severe acne from ages 11-18, and after I was 18 I discovered many ways to fix it. I am now in my 20's and my skin is mostly clear. I occasionaly get tiny whiteheads and black heads, however they are rarely noticable. I am very happy with the improved results.
When I was 18 I visited a Homeopathic Herbal and Nurtritionist doctor, who specialized in Chinese Herbal Medicine. I was having a problem with styes, which are pimples inside of your eye lid. I also had a lot of pimples on my face, neck, and back.
My doctor determined that I was experiencing symptoms of sodium fluoride poisoning. She told me to switch toothepastes, and stop using a fluoride mouth rinse that was given to me by my orthodontist. She also gave me some herbal medication, which is natural ground up plant materials, to assist my body in the healing process.
I followed the doctor's advice, and after 3 months, I noticed a great improvement in my skin. My styes went away, and my pimples were greatly reduced.
I encourage you all to do some research on this topic.
Here are some helpful steps:
Step 1:
Look at your toothpaste and read the ingredients. Does it contain the ingredient Sodium Fluoride? If the answer is yes, stop using it immediately. Go to a health food store, such as Whole Foods Market or Lassen's, and buy a toothpaste that doesn't contain sodium fluoride. I currently use Tea Tree Therapy Natural Whitening Toothpaste, and I bought this at Whole Foods Market. This is a local brand and it may only be available in Southern California. I have also tried Desert Essence Natural Tea Tree Oil Toothpaste, and I bought this at Lassen's.
Fluoride can also be found in some brands of mouthwash, and other dental hygiene products. Check the ingredients of any dental products that you are using.
Fluoride is very bad substance and it is poisonous to the human body. We have been told that it is "good for your teeth." That is false, and if you are interested in learning more about this I encourage you to do a google search and investigate for yourself.
Here is some quick proof. Read the warning label on your toothpaste. It says "If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away."
Why do they need a warning label like that on toothpaste? Because fluoride is a poison.
Step 2:
Visit a Homeopathic Herbal doctor. They will run some non-invasive tests to determine what health issues you have, and they will prescribe some Chinese Herbal Medicine. The medicine is basically plant materials, found in nature, that is mixed together, and you take a few spoonfuls of it every day.
I have been to regular doctors at hospitals, and they would constantly prescribe me topicals and pharmaceutical drugs. Every time I go to a hospital for a sickness, they always give me pills.
I believe that the solutions for many illnesses can be found in nature.
Step 3:
Try to change your nutritional habits. Do you eat a lot at fast food restaurants? Do you eat a lot of frozen and processed foods from the grocery store?
Try to eat fresh meats from the deli section of the grocery store, and fresh fruits and vegatables. Cook your food yourself at home, rather than buying frozen processed foods.
If you can afford it and you don't like to cook yourself, then visit nice restaurants often.
You want to eat foods that come fresh out of the ground, or fresh meats. Natural foods are very important to the overall health of the body.
Step 4:
Clean your house or apartment. Is your living area full of dust? Are the floors dirty, do you have trash laying around?
Do laundry often. Keep your clothes clean. Wash your bed sheets, blankets, and pillow cases once per week. If your pillows are machine washable, then wash those too.
Keep your bathroom and kitchen clean.
Search your house and make sure you don't have any black mold growing anywhere. Mold and dust can cause many skin problems.
Step 5:
Try to reduce your stress and get plenty of sleep. Sleep is very important for overall health of the body.
I really liked Dr Harold Katz's Thera Breath products when I tried them on sale, almost as much as I like Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpaste, but they are ridiculously overpriced in stores.
Now- I had a touch of perioral dermatitis that cleared up quickly recently, and in my research, I found that fluoride can trigger this reaction. It seemed to arrive when I switched mouthwashes to the purple stuff (fluroride + acidulated phosphate,) which arrived with a flareup. I was also taking whey protein, keratin supplements, both of which are evil, so I wouldn't have considered the mouthwash but for it all started with this perioral dermatitis.
I also live in Los Angeles and every time I move I find I'm sensitive to the tap water I bathe in, but here especially so...
I'm cutting so much crap out of my life, from Western drugs, to various dietary restrictions, why not fluoride? It's a lot cheaper to order Dr Katz stuff online *URL Removed, see board rules; http://www.acne.org/board-rules.html Acne.org Moderator Team* - I just learned his office is not far from me, perhaps I'll ask him on Facebook or someone else can. https://www.facebook.com/TheraBreath?fref=nf
Samples for $1 on his site. And the stuff really works.

Did you know that fluoride is often added to the water supply? This is especially true in major cities, which is such a shame. This could be a major factor in why you feel sensitive to tap water.
Here is a website that discusses this issue.
