Going Back On My Accutane Decision...

A few days ago I posted on here and said I had made the decision to go on accutane. I was prescribed and went to get the medicine. Luckily it has been delayed and I haven't been able to get it for 2 days. Why luckily? I started researching more and more, on top of all the previous research I've done. Keep in mind the research I have done are NOT just the negative reviews. Here are my thoughts..

I honestly cannot believe this drug is legal. I'm completely aware there are thousands of drugs out there that can be worse and also have the same or worse side effects, but for a very commonly taken drug I can't believe the things I have read. This drug can do amazing things and cure the worst, ugly, horrific acne out there, and it does this for a lot of people with no major side effects. But, a good 25% of reviews I have read scare me. It has ruined people lives. Possibly forever.

When a dermatologist tells me with his words "it dries you from the inside out" what part of that sounds good? Think of what that is doing to your body. The things I worry about are, great you're acne free, your side effects have vanished. 8 years later you go, hmmm I have these weird problems with my body for no reason, and hmm I did take accutane. Long tern side effects are completely real people. Again, I almost don't understand how this drug is legal.

I'm personally not willing to risk all of that for my own body.

Good for you. It is best to keep informed. Accutane has good and bad things about it and does change lives both positively and negatively. It's definitely not for everyone. Good luck in finding an alternate means for treating your acne.

I took Accutane and it worked well. I believe it is one of the best treatment for acne. It does come with side effects, but this is only whilst taking the drug and the effects aren't bad enough to not take it imo. If you have really bad acne I wouldn't let a few bad reviews put you off taking it. Once you've done your course and the acne has gone you'll be feeling a lot better. There is a debate about whether it can make you feel depressed whilst on it, maybe it can, but also acne can make you depressed, so there are many factors involved and blaming the drug is easy but not maybe the case.

I also recommend you stop looking at the trashy information many sites publish and only look at proper resources such as this:

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Acne/Pages/MedicineSideEffects.aspx?condition=Acne&medicine=Roaccutane&preparation=

^ All serious side effects effect less than 1 in every 10,000.

This should help you make your decision

You will hear horror stories online about anything if you look deep enough from caffeine to migraine tablets. If you're allergic then you can get bad reactions to anything!

I would personally recommend it myself.

This post is retarded, accutane is a fucking lifesaver dude. If your acne isnt that bad then sure, its probably overkill. If your acne is severe then its probably the only thing that will cure it. The side effects are so minimal in comparison to all the hype you read about it, its mostly made up by whiners who cant handle chapped lips, or by people who didnt have bad acne to begin with. Look at every single accutane log on this site, hardly any of them report serious side effects. The vast majority have good results.
