Hi People,

I have been struggling with pimples on my face since God knows when. I think since my adolescence. I am 27 now! It has lowered my self esteem and kept me unhappy because I've tried everything but with no success. I've tried using creams, cleansers, toners, scrubs, moisturisers, medicated soap...name it! I've also tried drinking water everyday, eating healthy (fruits, veggies and avoiding junk), I wash my face every night ... but nothing seems to work.

The pimples recently attacked my chin area and spread to my right cheek, others leaving black heads on my forehead and cheeks. It's quite annoying. Is there something am not doing right? I will not rest until I get a solution. Please help .

Thanks,

Miss BH.

Hello Miss BH.

The best thing to do if you haven't done so already is to see a dermatologist. Now I don't mean just any dermatologist but a good one who actually cares about you and the condition your face is in. I'm 22 and have been suffering from acne since I was 13. I've seen 5 different derms in my life and each different then the one prior. The one I go to now has her own practice and they're usually the ones who truly give a crap. Not only that but my dermatologist is an acne sufferer herself. She can relate to my struggle. Now I'm not promising that they'll get it right, right away because I'm sure as you know resolving acne involves a lot of trial and error, but they'll keep trying. They will give you hope. Just search the web and see if you can find a derm that fits this description. What do you have to lose? Hope this post helps. Good luck =)

Hi there MissBH! I do agree that seeing a dermatologist is a step in the right direction. I am 32 and understand how much it sucks to have acne as an adult woman. I recently had an outbreak that started last fall. It came down to a major shift in my hormones. I also had the same thing happen around your age, 26/27 I believe and had to see a dermatologist. Currently I am on a treatment that many woman have taken with great success to clear their acne, Spironolactone. Search the boards for this topic and you can read all about it. It is a treatment that gets to the root of the problem, hormones! I am also on Yasmin in conjuction with Spiro to balance out my hormones and my cycle. So far 2 months in and clearing quite well.

Derms are best. They will help you, as long as you find a caring one.

I kept a skin log and noted down where and when i had breakouts, i noticed my skin was better when taking fish oil. I also noticed my acne would come up a few days before hormonal changes every month.

Dont feel down! Acne is annoying but it doesnt make you ugly so please try not to feel so embarrassed or low confidence :)
