Hey guys, I'd really like to share with you my journey to fighting oily skin/folliculitis.

I've had extremely oily skin for 4-5 years now, and candida(yeast) as well. I've had re-occuring yeast infections on average twice a month ever since then. It would get so bad- that being with the same partner, we wouldn't always use a condom, but a few days after being sexually active I'd get a severe yeast infection. The itching, swelling and burning wouldn't even allow me to sit down.

Since about June of 2013- the yeast had gotten worse. Desperate to find out some answers- I started seeing a naturopath. I had a live blood test done that showed extreme candida along with digestive/colon/gut issues that usually goes along with it. He put me on a strict diet- I'm about a week in, and it includes NO sugar, no dairy, no gluten or wheat. Its very strict but clear skin would be so worth it.

Because of this yeast- I have developped Pitorosoprum Folliculitis- which is an overgrowth of yeast and breeds on oily skin.

So along with my blood test my naturopath did a hormone test as well to figure out exactly what is causing the oily skin(excessive). It turns out I'm extremely low in all hormones (3 types of estrogen and progesterone) but normal-high in testosterone. This is what is causing such an imbalance. My extra testosterone is taking over and causing the oil.

Now the folliculitis literally breeds on oily skin- which is why its gotten SO bad. I've always had little closed comedones (colorless clogged pores) on my forehead especially, but now have red painful cysts too. Mostly on my forehead again- a few on my chin. I also have little red cysts on my shoulders and upper back, little whiteheads on my chest, pimples on my scalp and lately even some red whiteheads on my pubic area and butt. Its absolutely awful and I've lost all of my self esteem :( Pics below...please tell me if you think this resembles Folliculitis, and positive comments only!

Like I said- I'm on a strict diet, and taking cleansing pills/shakes for my digestive issues. In two weeks I will continue with more candida meds, and start the hormone balancing.

In the mean time- I see my family doctor on Wedsnesday for treatment of the Folliculitis. I will be asking for a prescription for oral/cream Ketoconazole which I've heard is pretty efficient. Also hoping to get some Nizoral shampoo and zinc soap/cream for my body and face.

Please share any thoughts or recommendations, or if you've had a similiar problem. Positive thoughts only please.

I will keep you guys updated for anyone's who is interested!

My skin used to be super oily, and making diet changes has definitely helped me. I'm not really very familiar with yeast problems or folliculitis, but I did just get over a case of dermatits, and I think the most important thing I learned was to baby your skin. Getting rid of sulfates in my cleansers really helped with the inflammation so maybe that would help you too?
