Hello All!
This is my first time posting something on here but I have read quite a few forums and you all seem so helpful.
I guess I can start with telling you about myself. I am a 28 year old female. I have never had an acne problem until a few months ago (starting sometime around Sept/Oct). I keep breaking out with cystic pimples on my forehead. I had switched my birth control pills around the end of August. I had thought that might be the reason for my break outs. Starting around the first of the year I went back to my old BC pills, hoping that would help. It has been very close to two months and my skin is still not great. I have tried so many different things, toothpaste, prids drawing slave, BP, SA, lemon juice, aspirin, baking soda, warm compresses, switching face washes, washing my pillow case weekly, cleaning make up brushes weekly, etc.
I recently went to the derm and got put on Epiduo and have been using that a little over two weeks (still too soon to tell if thats going to help.......I think). I keep reading that dairy could be a reason behind my cystic acne and have be thinking of cutting out dairy (which is really hard ). I am used to using a little milk in my cereal every morning. I have Greek yogurt ever day for lunch (to get my protein) and sometimes have cottage cheese (also for protein). I also like chocolate and icecream (I try to keep that to a minimum already). Does anyone have any good substitutes that are currently using. I could use some ideas?
P.S. I have been having low self esteem lately and being anti social for a few months since I am so embarrassed by my face. I just wanted to thank everyone on the website for helping me though this and giving some type of hope!
Definitely give up the dairy just for a bit and see if you see results or just switch to almond milk or another form of milk that doesn't contain dairy and if you don't then most likely dairy doesn't have that big of effect on you. I know that even if I get a sip of dairy my face breaks out like crazy so I just avoid it all together, btw did you recently start to eat something that you weren't eating in the past?
I'd say since you're 28 and have been consuming dairy products for most of your life already (I assume), it is probably not the dairy. I'd say it's the birth control. I've been on many different birth controls. Switching, stopping then starting again and stopping altogether will all cause acne. I've found the pill is great if it is used consistently and you stay on the same one, but once I start switching or stop altogether, hello acne! It also takes about three months after starting a new birth control to see results in the skin (this information if from my dermatologist, I'm not making it up lol). I recently stopped using my birth control. I expected acne. To my surprise, Dan's products are keeping everything under control, just a couple small pimples here and there. Whatever you choose to do, I'd highly recommend Dan's products, or at least something similar.
ClearSkinAvenger - I am not eating anything different, well not that i am aware of! My diet it pretty much the same as its always been. I try to eat as healthy as possible! (its not always easy). I have cut most dairy out of my diet now (still have a little here and there)
I hope against hope that it was my pill change that caused my acne. I finally started my 3rd month of Beyaz (which I used to take for a while and never had a problem). I am hoping that I did not develop the adult acne bacteria! I do not want to live this is for the next several years. I hate to say this, but I never had a hugely high self esteem and having this problem is surely not helping. I just want to go back to the way I was. I am grateful for everyone on these forums and boards. They help me have hope. My friends do not get how frustrating this can be (since they are acne free!)
