How To Get Rid Of Blackheads?

Hi,

First of all: sorry if this question has been asked a million times already - couldn't see any stickies or anything :/

I've been having problems with acne for years, but through changes to my diet and skincare regime, I've pretty much been able to eliminate most of my acne blemishes.

However, since I first broke out (about 7-8 years ago), I've never been able to get rid of the blackheads that I have on my nose.

The dietary changes I've made to calm my acne seem to have done nothing to get rid of these blackheads. I've also tried Pharmaceutical Grade skin care (Benozyl Peroxide), salycylic acid face wash, microdermabrasion, and skin peels, all to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help shift them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Those are probably sebaceous filaments and not blackheads. I've got them too, and from what I've heard they can be reduced but not completely eliminated (however, when I took anti-androgens and accutane they did disappear..). Anyway, oil cleansing and ahas are good for reducing them. Lactic acid is a nice mild aha which may help.

extract the? warm the nose up with water or better after a long warm shower. give them a low pressure squeeze and see if they pop out. use a comedone extractor.

they could be as the poster before me stated sebaceous filaments - if so, live with them

Here's a picture of sebaceous filaments.

Thankyou for the responses! That's interesting; I hadn't even heard of sebaceous filaments!

I think they're a bit darker than those, so I'm probably still going to say they are blackheads.

I'll give the extraction a shot! Although, I have loads of them (I'd guess about 30 just on my nose) - is it going to damage my skin at all to extract them all?

Sebaceous filaments can come in a variety of colors. For some people they are white and for some people they are dark and even black. A good way to tell if they are sebaceous filaments is if they keep coming back after you squeeze them or extract them. Sebaceous filaments also appear very uniform looking.

I'd be careful with extraction, especially extracting 30 things. That could lead to scarred pores. I think AHAs, BHAs, or oil cleansing would still be your best bet.

Oh dear - that's worrying if they are filaments, because I've heard they don't go (?)

And thankyou for the suggestions, guys - I'll give them a shot!

I have blackheads on my nose and I can never seem to get rid of them. I was watching this beauty guru on youtube one day and she used a Konjac Sponge and she said it really helped her acne. I've used it for a week or so and my blackheads are all gone. Maybe you should try that!
