Hey guys, is it normal that I'm still getting breakouts even if i'm using Benzoyl Peroxide 10% for a little over 2 months now? It's really frustrating and very stressful. I've also been using Olay Regenerist 6-8% glycolic acid and Tretinoin 0.1% which really helps to fade my hyper-pigmentation on my face. It just sucks that while you're treating these red marks, pimples come out and leave another red marks for me to think of and treat.
I'm using BP and AHA every day and Tretinoin every night. Do you think the 10% BP i'm using is irritating my face, since i'm using 6-8% AHA and 0.1% Tretinoin? And causing me to get breakouts?

10% BP can be very irritating, especially when applied all over the face. Irritation can easily make pimples look worse. It's normal to still get breakouts after 2 months of treatment.
Noticable or even "drastic" improvement with tretinoin happens around 6 months. (Yeah, I know, too long. )
If you only have a few inflammatory pimples you can get away with spot treatments. You can either knock the BP down to 2.5%-5% and/or apply spot treatments, or even use 2% SA if you can't tolerate BP. Sodium sulfacetamide and azelaic acid is better than OTC SA, though.
Is the GA a cleanser or a lotion? If a cleanser, it's mostly useless.
No, the AHA i'm using is like a serum, and I think it's effective but works a bit slow + it feels kinda sticky too.
Yeah, that's also what I was thinking, I'm going to purchase Dan's BP and AHA+, i hope this helps. Sigh.

You don't need a BP in a "spot treatment" container, unless you apply it rarely--which, sounds to me, isn't the case. Dan's small BP container is good, as well as Benaderm Gel (5%). Neutrogena's On the Spot is okay if you can tolerate clay textures (high potential for staining pillowcases, though). Paula's Choice is a little pricier option, but works well.

Adrian2040, when using tretinoin , DO NOT use anything else with it. just use a gentle cleanser to cleanse your skin in the a.m and moisturize.
At night, cleanse wait 30mins before applying the tretinoin and with patience, you will see the results. I am speaking from experience.
I will advice you do away with the BP and other acids for now and stick with only the retin a. this will calm the breakouts.

Thank you. Actually, I was thinking of not using the tretinoin once my order from Acne.org arrived. I'm trying to stick with Dan's Regimen to help clear up my face. But I really want to still use the tretinoin because of the many benefits to the skin, maybe after I got clear(hopefully) from pimples and redmarks, i'm going to try and use it again.

Don't go overboard with chemicals. Oh, I wish I had known that from the beginning. Chemicals should never be your first option. Try more organic products first, PLEASE PLEASE do not make the same mistakes I did. Limit yourself to one chemical/topical cream, like Benzoyl Peroxide. Don't use any others along with it. Use calming products to balance it out.

I agree. I would just use the BP. Irritation = Pimples.
In my experience, tretinoin did very little to prevent breakouts. On the other hand, BP kills acne bacteria.
Yes, that's what my friend told me too. Tretinoin or Retin-a has many skin benefits but it won't clear and prevent breakouts. I'm gonna stick with Dan's Regimen. I hope it really clears up my face. It's very frustrating that while the other red marks are fading, pimples starts to appear again. Ugh. I'm just so happy that my order from Acne.org finally arrived... TODAY. Yaaaaaassssss! LOL.
Tretinoin can enhance the effectiveness of other topicals. Tretinoin does clear and prevent breakouts, but it's most effective in blackheads and whiteheads.
Adapalene is gentler and can be used with benzoyl peroxide.

is probably the MoST overrated acne product in the history of mankind
it works for some people, and then, they assume it will work on everyone lmao
then, you have the people, who fixed their diet/lifestyle, and their acne was cured, and assume that it will happen to everyone as well lol
