I have pretty severe acne and my face is usually always red around my mouth, cheek and parts of my forehead area.
I'm a 20 year old male who has a family history of acne, mom mainly has it, sister has it, 2 of my 3 brothers has it.
I've been breaking out lately only around my mouth and chin area. Some say that this is a cause of hormones while others say it is because of the food im eating(oils of food going on my lips onto my chin/mouth area).
Not sure what is exactly the cause but I went to try the honey mask and suddenly the next morning I experienced one of the worse breakouts ever.
My usual routine:
-Wash face with cetaphil sensitive cleaner
-apply Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment 2% SA
-Apply Cetaphil lotion after
For night time, I I use a toner after washing. It hasn't caused any issues as I've been using it for over 2-3 months and seen no increase in breakouts nor decrease.
How I used the honey:
-bought YS Organic Bee Farms CERTIFIED ORGANIC RAW HONEY (100% CERTIFIED ORGANIC HONEY Raw, Unprocessed, Unpasteurized - Kosher 32oz) from Amazon.
-took a table spoon of it, mixed with 2-3 more table spoons of warm water, mix and apply over face
-sleep with mask overnight
-wash next morning and proceed with my usual routine
Though, what I woke up to was a massive breakout on my chin, below lip area. There was countless whiteheads on my chin, they started as small and as the day progressed they grew bigger. I applied my SA 2% treatment on it as I saw no alternative. I thought it could be the initla breakout that usually happens when your skin tries to readjust to a new product but this seemed more than that, it looked more like a "allergic reaction".
Same day, I applied the same honey mask and slept with it overnight to see what would happen. Woke up next day and whiteheads grew fatter. The whiteheads now were fat cystic white blobs on my chin.
I'm going to take a break from this honey mask treatment and try again later to see if this is truly the issue.
Though I'm open to any thoughts/advice.
Woah that is really weird considering ys honey saved my skin (oh god how i wish I was clear) maybe you're allergic to the bee pollen or maybe even the honey itself you're best bet is to stay away from it as you said and good luck man I hope you find something that works for you
I'm thinking it could be due to the fact that I was sleeping with it on but the real question is why did I only breakout on my chin? I applied it to my entire face and my chin was the only place that had a breakout. Clear cheeks, forehead, but massive breakout on my chin, looked like the milky way was lodged on it.
My skin however has been recovering from the breakout, haven't used it since Saturday Night ( day and half ago?). There's still alot of cysts and scaring on my chin but the massive whiteheads are mainly gone. Going to take today off from work and school to relax, hopefully this and loads of water will promote the healing process.
