So I have been diagnosed with PF after 2 years of being treated for both acne and rosacea. But I have read that PF generally occurs on the trunk and generally not the face. I have papules on my cheeks and forehead but none on my back or chest. I have been prescribed low dose accutane to treat it but from what I have read, this condition will never be cured..

Has anyone successfully cured this condition? Will accutane help?

Pictures would help tons, I have been diagnosed that with doctors but my derm says its just acne and seboherric dermatitis so we are treating it accordingly, I still think there's some folliculitus going on but I just don't know at this point. I have done a lot of research in the matter and it's treated as a yeast or fungus so antibiotics would not help, perhaps even make it worse. From what I read a lot if people can get rid if it for periods of time but it usually always comes back eventually. All of the organisms are feeding off your sebum which accutane will dry up. I'd say your in the right track. Acne and folliculitus act very oddly to me so I can't say if it's going to work or not, just stick with the dermatologists suggestions even if they don't seem to be working, sadly that is all people like us can do I'd hope this woman or man can fix us.

Thanks so much for the reply.. I might ask for a skin biopsy just to be sure it is PF. My main concern is that the worst affected area is my cheeks and having read up on PF, Im led to believe that the cheeks are not predominantly affected by PF.

I too was treated for Seb derm and acne for two years before finally seeing a derm and now I realized that stupid doctors wrongly diagnosing and treating me for acne has worsened this condition . What really worries me is that this PF will never be cured and has literally ruined my happiness. Before i started suffering these symptoms I played football at a high level, socialised every weekend and now I barely leave the house and find myself in tears everyday because of my skin and all it has took from me.
