So I've trying to deal this acne/red marks/whatever it is for about a year now with no success. I've tried retin-a, doxycyclone, AHA+ and proactive most recently. I've tried each treatment for about 2 months and i still cannot get this redness/pimples to go away! Your suggestions would be much appreciated! (Photo is attached and please excuse my lobe haha)
could be caused by shaving. i used to have acne near my beard area, but now the area is much clear.
You could use benzol peroxide in the mornings and retin-a at nights.
and this may sound cliche, but drink water and sleep 8-10 hours a day are the best way to treat your pimples.
Thanks for your input. In regards to shaving, this is what i initially thought too but the breakouts only really occur on one side of my face and even sometimes on my forehead so i don't think it would be because of shaving. I'll try drinking more water too, any other feedback?
glad you posted this topic.
i have the exact same thing, mine is more pronounced on my right side than left. the red spots/blotches are all flat and don't hurt, but just sit there. they extend around my jawline as well. i've wondered if this is just due to shaving, but even when i change the blade and am extra sensitive with my shaving it doesn't go away.
i also have some real acne on sections of my forehead, including along the top of my hairline. these do get bumpy and hurt, but unfortunately never come to a head with puss. they just rise and hurt, then take almost 2 weeks to die down and flatten a bit (but remain red), and then eventually come back to start the same cycle over and over again. it's beyond frustrating.
i started the Regimen with the products from this site around a week ago and believe there's been some slight improvement thus far with both the flat red spots around my cheeks and jaw, and with my hairline acne. maybe you should give the Regimen a try, perhaps the BP will help you with your red marks?
not to bring your hopes down. I have had red spots for about 3 years on both my cheeks, BUT, they are so unnoticeable now thank god, but they are there. Avoid the sun (my mistake) it makes it longer. Drink as much water as you can, and I don't know why but sweating always made mine look better.
I meant avoid too much sun. Wear sunscreen

I try to avoid the sun as much as possible but the predicament is that I also enjoy tanning since I am very pale and could use some color. I know this out of context but I could probably wear sunscreen to protect the red marks but could also get color, right?
A couple IPL treatments or YAG laser would probably do the trick for the redness
Do you have experience with IPL treatments and using a YAG laser? I'm thinking I could probably benefit from the IPL but I'm thinking any type of laser would be a little over the top since I don't think my situation is severe.
EDIT: I just looked up both the IPL and YAG laser treatments and they both appear to treat exactly what I have. I live in Los Angeles so there's a lot of options for both treatments. Which treatment do you think would be most beneficial for my situation?

Well I've done about 3 IPLs spaced one month apart. It has helped reddness but not as much as I thought. It wasn't until this last time that they combined the IPL and YAG together! That's when I saw the most improvement. So if it comes down to one or the other, I would do the YAG. The YAG is a true laser, so it goes deeper, while the IPL is light not a laser. Try the YAG. Dr. Sires office in Fullerton has helped me tremendously. If your willing to drive from LA to Fullerton, I would go there for sure. They've been working with me on one particular scar (large and deep) with saline injections and its helped speed up the healing quite a bit.

Your welcome!
No, I didn't take any pictures of the process because I could barely look at myself. One of my scars was caused by a kenalog injection. It gave me a lot of stress and caused a time of depression for me.
Anyways....the IPLs range in price from $199-$300. The YAG I had as a spot treatment for my scar and it was only $75. I'm not sure how much it is for the whole face.

why would you spend so much cash for such minimal effects?
The $199-$300 is for the entire face, depending on where you go. I only did my entire face once. The other 2 times I just did my chin, where all my issues are, and that was only $50.
IPL requires several sessions. Typically 3-6 are needed. Nothing is a quick fix. And we all know, this stuff isn't cheap.
And also, I have a job, and make a decent living. I also have a husband that works. If I could afford it, I wouldn't do it.
