I never had acne in my teens it didn't start too I was 21. I've tried everything from proactive to benzaclin, duac. Ugh now I'm on epiduo this is day three and my face is peeling like crazy!!! It's so bad and more embarrassing than the acne itself. I'm just so depressed over it. What really bothers me is I have no clue what's causes it. I keep my face very clean, the makeup I use is expensive and doesn't clog. My derm said the makeup is fine. I change my pillow case EVERY NIGHT. And I have no family history of acne. None of my friends have it. I just want to know what it's like to go out and not have to slather on makeup, or go swimming in the summer and go under water. I'm just in the verge of giving up. I'm glad I found this site though, it's nice to see how many others are going through this. Here's a pic of what I, dealing with actually looks not as bad In the picture. Can't believe I'm even showing me without makeup!!
I'm 22 and i also deal with acne every day of my life. I would suggest you should try changing your life routine. Write down what you eat and drink from the morning to the minute you go to bed. We have all heard about fat food and sugary stuff can cause acne. If you eat anything includes those things, try cutting down on them. Also, follow the regimen by acne.org. Don't get frustrated!

I don't believe that it is the food you are ingesting that particular moment that is causing the acne, rather a buildup of that food over years and years that causing problems inside your body, a buildup of toxins if you will. It then gets to a point where the liver and kidneys are not able to do the job that they were designed so delicately to perform. Since the toxins can not be eliminated through these cleansing points they are forced out through the largest organ in the human body, the skin. But I do agree with you that the toxic food our generation consumes on a daily basis is a MAJOR contributor of our society's acne problems which eventually leads to anxiety, and depression, I've seen it with so many individuals on this board.
Hmm my pic didn't show. Well I have it on my chin mainly that's the worse. My forehead and now my cheeks which is new. My nose use covered in black heads. I was having hope because the epiduo was actually working but I woke up today with three new friends taking residence on my face! No medicine works for me!!! My doctor won't put me on acceptance because I'm no polar. I want it so badly
Hi! I'm 23 and totally understand being a young adult with acne. It's so frustrating. Especially as a woman trying to exude confidence and be professional in a competitive world. The swimming thing really reminded me of myself...this summer, I could only swim with my face above the water and I couldn't jump in at all... ugh.
Since you do such a great job at keeping your skin clean, your acne is probably purely hormonal. Do you find that your skin is oily? If so, you're probably producing too many androgens (male hormones-- the ones that make your skin produce more sebum). My skin was combination-- but would get oily by the end of the day, especially on my nose, chin and forehead.
What's helped me tremendously is going on the birth control Beyaz and starting Spironolactone. Both of these help to lessen the amount of usable potent androgens in my body. It's taken about 5 months to see dramatic results, but it's so worth it. Especially after 8 or 9 years of battling this...
I'm allllllmost to the point where I'm okay with wearing no makeup in public (one of my life's goals! haha). I have some red marks left over that I'm trying to get rid of that still embarrass me a little.
If you're into natural remedies, you could try Saw Palmetto (an anti-androgen supplement) and Spearmint Tea (also naturally anti-androgenic). I've heard of some (only a few!!) people seeing the same results with them
When you're using those creams what is your skin like? Are you flakey and still breaking out? If so, your skin is dehydrated... Not your body, your top of layer of skin on your face. If skin is just drying out from those products they are not for you. If oil can't come up and out it will clog, and dehydrated skin makes it way worse.
What products are you using daily/nightly? Cleanser, toner, moisturizer, etc? I can help you out more once I know what you're doing for your skin day and night
xoxo Meg
I washed my face body wish just water until I met my girlfriend wen I was 27 . The make from her face would get into mine wen we got close(if u know wot I mean) anyway just water would not wash this off so I started using cleansers . Then can't remember how Long it took but began getting acne, so started with acne cleansers & got worse . Years later an old school mate said he had acne at school & wen washed with just water it cleared. Made me realize my girlfriend make up got me using cleansers then spots came. Age 30ish started water washing again ,skin felt dryish n got oily quick but spots n other red marks started to clear . Now my skin is best it's ever been like before I started cleansers . I now think it's common sense as wots the point washing off natural oils which are ther to protect & moisturise skin & replace it with man made chemical moisturisers. Try water washing it may work & u have nothing to lose . Give it 6wks for ur skin to balance itself out. I wash my hair with shampoo n keep it away from my face. Use mild soap under armpits n private areas so u don't smell. Hope this will help many sufferers !!
