Hey guys,
My first post! At what age did you males clear up? So I'm 22 and I've noticed my skin has gotten way better compared to when I was in high school. I remember my temple area, my nose and my acne being so bad that I would avoid mirrors. I'm still getting nodules and white heads but I probably have only 2 major zits on my face at the moment with lots of hyperpigmentation and scarring, but I can finally look at myself at the mirror and I look especially good freshly shaved: I don't have problems attracting partners. I know acne is genetic (my sister got lucky), but when can I expect it to go away?
Also I'm considering seeking a dermatologist out to get accutane to treat my bacne and my remaining acne. I was just wondering how prevalent it is for acne to relapse after treatment? My biggest worry is to go through all those side effects, get clear skin, and then get acne again
From my personal experience girls generally outgrow their acne at 18-21.
Guys usually 20-25.
My father outgrew his acne completely at 23. His skin condition in high school was terrible, but now you'd never know!
A lot of people on this site are very biased with the adult acne category.
Maybe ask your parents when either of them outgrew acne, or your grand parents... That can give you a rough guideline.
I think guys are apt more to grow out of acne than women because men do not have monthly flucuations in hormones like clock work as women do. To me women are more apt to have hormonal imbalances contributing to acne far more than women therefore less likely to grow out of it like men. Although, this is speculation. I believe growing out of it is possible. I myself have seen improvements into my early-mid twenties.
