Hey everyone, I used to have moderate acne and now for the past week my face has been clearing up and no new pimples. I took a vitamin a, c, d, e, and a zinc every day and this helped along with reducing my carbs from 300g to 100g a day.
However, I'm trying to hit 3500 calories a day for bodybuilding and I don't eat meat so I had a question about some foods that I could eat.
I was thinking about buying brown rice (eat some with every meal so three times a day), quinoa (eat some with every meal), and sweet potato (1-2 a day). Is this too many carbs? Would I break out from these and do they generally cause acne? I know sweet potato has a lot of vitamin A so I wouldn't take my vitamin a supplement to avoid overdosing.
Any thoughts?
Sjora, if you think you can stomach all those bland foods (I personally would need a ton of Thai spices on top of the rice + quinoa to make that worthwhile), then I think you'd be okay. If I were you I'd ramp everything up to the levels you're talking about. You may go through a phase of less growth during that time (maybe not as rapid as you'd like for a few weeks), but I definitely wouldn't drop everything I'm doing and start eating brown rice + quinoa with every meal. I'd say ramp it up over time. What do you eat in place of meat btw?

I eat soy protein patties once a day, drink whey protein twice a day, eat a few tablespoons of peanut butter every day and sometimes have an occasional protein bar. I have trouble gaining weight so I think I'll slowly add these foods into my diet so my body adjusts because the last time I added lots of food in, I broke out and I took 2 weeks off from eating like a maniac to let my skin heal.
Okay, that all sounds good! Good sources of non-meat protein. I had trouble gaining weight as well so I understand. When I first started working out, I basically just gorged myself and worked out all the time and gained 60lbs or so in 1.5 years... sometimes that's what it takes even if it's bad on your skin. Tough decision to make... but I would definitely do things in stages and ramp additional food up gradually. Good luck
