Apologies if this has already been discussed but I was wondering about other people's experiences with oily skin. My forehead and nose get very oily a few hours after washing my face. I use acne pads after washing along with BP and moisturizer. I am wondering if my routine might be making my skin oilier but I am hesitant to stop all together because I do feel they help. Has anyone ever stopped using acne products and maybe just used a mild cleanser and if so did you notice a decrease in oil on your skin???
Thanks.
Acne products do not ALL dry your skin out. I use Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Wash and I *know* that it dries my skin out. I've had combination oily-dry skin for a while (oily forehead and T-zone but dry everywhere else - sounds like you may be the same way) and using that Clean & Clear has helped with the level of oil. My acne products alone do not seem to affect the moisture level of my skin.
I wouldn't drop all acne products immediately if I were you. Think about tapering the usage of each item off and see how each one affects your skin. I know you want a quick solution to your problem, but imo it's better to be patient and analytical. Just my .02 cents
In my experience I've found that in order to keep your skin balanced, you only need ONE product with an acne fighting ingredient in your routine, ideally something that stays on your face like a toner, treatment or serum. Using multiple acne medicated products will only strip your skin and it's automatic response is to overproduce more oil in return.
i've red in a book that for oily skin you shoud drink water+a bit of lemon juice (very important)+a tea spoon of honey (not important imo) first thing in the morning. and drinking 2liters of water (8 glasses) over the day.
when i have oily skin i wash (pulverise) with water+salt(non-iodised!!)+a tiny bit of lemon or cider vinnegar+1 drop of tea tree oil+1 drop of lavander oil. medics say the body takes how much salt the body needs, thru skin that is.
