Hi,

I used to have a perfect skin before i took birth control pills. Even when i was taking it my skin was still perfect until I stopped. My skin became super oily, large pores, zits, white heads, black heads and cystic acne are coming out. I used tea tree oil. It is good but once one acne dries up 4 zits and or cystic acne come out. I just don't know what to do. Shall i take BC pills again? or will the regimen work for me? i think what i have is hormonal acne. i don't know what to do. please help.

Hey!

My story is very similar to yours. I was on BC pills for 3 years. I was clear before them (would get a pimple here and there) and on them I rarely got a pimple. In July of this year I stopped taking them because I hated the way I felt on them.

Anyway, my face in August went OUT OF CONTROL. I'm talking big cyst on my jawline, cheeks, tons of whiteheads, ect ect. I came across this website after long nights of researching online and crying.

I started the regimen on September 6. So I am about 7.5 weeks into it. I am almost clear! I went from 50 pimples to about 5 right now. (It wasn't easy! Because you purge and have dry skin ect ect) but the end result is awesome.

My skin is not perfect yet (have lots of scarring) but it's working!

Good luck! Try the regimen! And remember.... Give it 3 months :)

Yeh I think all BC pills do that. I don't want to use BC pills I feel uncomfortable with the effects. we really have the same story. Cystic acne on my jawline too. Lots! Can I just use benzoyl peroxide from the pharmacy?

My oldest daughter suffers from that too. She took birth control pills to help control her acne, worked for a while, but then her face kept breaking out. I had her start using an blemish facial wash from belli skin care. It was designed for pregnant women, but I guess any one who has hormonal acne can use it to. Her face has cleared up some, but I'm not sure if there's a magic answer.

Some BC pills clear your skin, and some make acne worse.

Please see the link in my signature good/bad birth control for acne. Not all BC are created equal.

I just use natures cure BP (it's 5%) but used with cetphil moisturizer twice a day has been really working. Here's a list on what dan Suggest on using from the drugstore...

Where can you get it? Any particular shop? I can't find any other BP here in my area. Do they sell it in GNC?

Thanks. I am frustrated. I thought my skin was clearing, I am using benzac at the moment. Now about 10 cystic acne broke out on my jawline and on my cheek. Should I go back to taking BC pills?

No problem! I totally get your frustration. When I first started the regimen I literally had 20+ cystic acne! and week 4 and 5 even more came! (Very very frustrating) but I'm now week 9 and I have 3 left on my jawline and they are clearing up.

Going back on birth control is a personal choice and something you should probably ask your doctor. For me personally I hated it and hated the way I felt on it. Also I knew that bc pills don't really fix acne just "mask it". So I just bite the bullet and decided to do the regimen (even tho it's been a hard long journey, but soooo worth it)
