How Important Is The Time Between Exercising And Showering?

I'm 24 and I have mild face acne (just the occasional pimple, rarely more than three at a time) but I have pretty bad back acne. I've always played sports and usually when I played sports growing up and going to practice, I would wait about 4 or 5 hours between finishing practice and taking a shower (I would finish practice at about 6PM then wouldn't shower till I finished most of my homework at about 10PM or 11PM). I suspected this might have been a contributing factor to my back acne.

I never did anything to treat the back acne, but I am considering the bacne regimen. However, in my current situation (living in rural Japan) my gym does not have a very good shower. They are kind of grungy and don't have mirrors. I usually go to a traditional Japanese bathhouse (onsen) which has a big communal bath, steam room, and showers. This is where I would do the regimen (along with the face regimen). However, I would most likely be finishing at the gym about 6PM and then not going to the bathhouse until 9PM.

Will this wait time between working out (and getting sweaty) and showering diminish the effectiveness of the regimen? Should I do a quick rinse at the gym shower? Does the lag time between showering and exercising not actually matter?

Would the hot bath and steam room have any positive or negative affects on my acne?

Thanks in advance for the help!

what i great question! When i finished up Cross country or track practice at 530 i always found myself wondering- Do i take a shower now? But i want to take one later after dinner and everything... What i would do- and this is what i ended up doing- take a quick bath just body wash or whatever just to rinse yourself off when you come home- and then at 10-11pm you take youre full shower.

Bacteria forms immediately and sweat is a great place for bacteria. Shower as fast as possible after exercising to give bacteria no chance!

Thanks! So would a quick shower at the gym of just body wash followed by a longer shower at the public bath be the right approach?

I agree with Avada Kedavra Acne... just take a quick shower / bath after a workout to rinse yourself off. Get all of that sweat off of your skin; imo, the sooner the better. If you can't get to a shower / bath after your workout, find a way to at least take a towel and gently pat as much of your sweat away as possible. You probably won't really want it drying onto your skin.

Also, taking a hot bath is detrimental to some and fine for others when it comes to skin irritation and the like. I take hot showers all the time and my skin, overall, is fine. Just don't overdo it! Good luck
