So I'm really frustrated... I keep breaking out in the same general areas on my chin. It's like, a pimple subsides, but as soon as it goes, one or two start coming up right next to it. Is this typical acne behavior? Or is this maybe a symptom of some other underlying problem, maybe infection?
When you have a pimple at that particular area, do you pick at it or mess with it at all?
I used to have a similar thing where for ages (months and months at least) I would get fairly big pimples in the exact same spot on my cheeks. They would appear and go down but flare up again - and I think this is because I would have messed with them in that time and didn't let them heal on their own. I managed to stop picking etc at my skin for a while and since then I haven't had acne like that in the exact same spot like I used to. So maybe that's what's happening for you? Hope you figure it out soon and find something that helps!
I do touch them unfortunately, just to see how raised they are... sometimes I can't tell if something is an active pimple or just hyperpigmentation, so I touch it... and I know it's a bad habit, and I'm trying to break it.
It's SOO frustrating, just when I think something is healing up - wham! Right next to it, a new one.
Anyway, I'm starting the regimen (again), and I'm hoping it will be the death of those pesky cysts in the long run. Then all I'll have to worry about is my lipline pimples, which I'm seeing my physician about tomorrow just to make sure they're not herpes or staph or something.

I don't think just touching it would cause it... I don't know - maybe that is enough irritation?
But I know what you mean - I have a lot of spots that look like they might be hyperpigmentation but then if I feel it, it's still raised/active. I'm working on not touching/picking/messing with my skin too.
