I had problem areas on my face few months ago. Now i have cystic pimples everywhere. Its pretty severe now and im very very depressed. Back a few months ago it wasn't this bad but still very bad. Back then it was moderate. The thing is this. Im from NYC. I would be planning to go to canada in a few weeks for 3-6 months.

I dont have insurance so i will be paying out of pocket no matter where i am. Is there a point of me seeing a dermatologist now in nyc as oppose to waiting till i go to canada? Reason is b/c if the derm in nyc give me some product to try, surely i might have to go to him/her again but i wont be able to see her since im out of the country.

Should i see what this derm says and try the same products she recommend and then go to canada etc? Or should i just wait till i head to canada and then see a derm and see what that derm can do for me when im there?

Because im thinking going to a derm just now isn't goign to be worth it if im going to see them max 1 or 2 times?

I would go now and get started on some kind of treatment then you can follow up with someone else in Canada if you need to.

It might be difficult to get an appointment with a dermatologist in Canada. Most will only see you if you are referred to them by your family doc... although it might be different for somebody who is paying out of pocket (vs. Medicare).

Dermatologists in Canada are not that expensive to see even for non residents and free for all residents. There are private cosmetic and dermatologist clinics that take cash and you don't need a referral.

Here's one:
