Bp As Spot Treatment?

To those of you with mild acne or who have just a few spots here and there, do you use BP all over your face or just to spot treat?
I've found if I use it all over my problem areas I break out, though if I just use salicylic acid on those areas I clear up. I know BP can cause an initial breakouts, but my skin is so sensitive and gets to red/flaky even with heaps of moisturiser, I'm wondering if it's doing more harm than good eusa_think.gif
And (this may be a really stupid question), do you massage the spot treatment in or just leave it as a dab on your face? When I massage it in I breakout in the same place, which I guess could be due to extra irritation.
Thanks everyone!

My skin gets so angry and red when I use it in large areas. I've had a massive breakout (6-7 pimples) in the past day or so and the BP is the only thing I've changed so I reckon that could be why.

I found another post on the forum from ages ago and the guy had the same kind of redness on his chin that I do, and people were saying he could be allergic to BP, so I'm definitely just going to use tiny amounts to spot treat when I need it.

Thanks aanabill!

bp is irritating to sensitive skin.

in fact, some take ages to get get used to it.

my take on bp is always to use it as spot treatment.

on active zits or if u fear anything coming up to surface(and wanna stop it there!).

You can, but I found BP always left a red mark. The type of red mark that lingers for a long time.

I would personally just use a even layer as normal rather than a big dollop.

personally i dnt use bp now as much.

but if and when i see something that could become a zit/acne or a under the skin bump,i apply bp(the usual 3.5 % gel i have) in less that a pin point size amount at night.

very very less.

bp in more than 'little' amount even as spot treatment causes this brownish dried skin(on the spot, healed or otherwise) - almost like a mild burn.

it goes away within few days.

but its the best bet to treat a zit or acne and stop it at bud fast.

I've also been using just enough to cover the spot, and I've had no new breakouts in the past few days and the redness/irritation has gone down some, so it seems the BP was the cause after all. I'm thinking of switching to a tea tree gel/pure tea tree instead so I'll see how that goes.

Thanks again for the help :)
