Hello everyone! I have some questions I posted something simialar to this over in the regime products but no one is answering me. Maybe it's being seen since I didn't put it in the general acne boards. Who knows. Anyways, I have moderate hyper pigmentation on my face from the aftemath of acne. I am currently on spiro to treat my acne hormonally and it is working wonders.

I've read about all the success that people are having with aha and reducing the red marks. I am not on the regime or any form of it but I went ahead and ordered Dans AHA+ because reading reviews a lot of people say his is the best they've used. I was looking for advice on how much to use and basically any tips AHA users have out there. I'm looking forward to using it and I should be getting it in a couple days and I need all the tips I can get.

Thanks!!

use daily sunscreen....

to be honest...if you can handle it, i would use a product that is only aha.

what you are getting is moisturizer with a bit of aha. its okay if you are using other stuff and you dont wanna risk irritating your skin, but given you are not using anything else i would get something that its "pure aha".

ohhh...and use it at night. (still ..you should use sunscreen in the am)

I am currently using a daily am moisturizer with 30 SPF will that be good enough? I will use it at night time for sure, that was my pain anyways. What aha products do you recommend maybe after my skin is used to this product I can ramp it up to a full aha.

Also do I put it on everywhere or just the areas with the hyper pigmentation? And is it smart to spot treat with it?

Thanks for the reply!

aha is one of those things that i can not recommend a specific product since i have only used one aha product

perhaps you might want to take a look at "paulas choice"....overall they have a good quality line

Keep in mind, when using aha's in general that percentage matters but pH also matters a lot.

Dan's aha+ is ph 4.0

paulas choice ph is 3.5-3.8

I would recommend however, for you to get peels.

These start at 20% or so, and get higher and higher as you adjust to it. These are something you may do once a month, but after 3-5 you will see dramatic improvements. (you can do them yourself, or you can go to an esthetician)

I recomend it simply becuase you dont appear to be dealing with active acne (you are not using any topical products)

Once I can say im done breaking out, I will get these.

Read the following over....I was answering to some person asking how to deal with hyper pigmentation and scars.

30SPF is good enough, but 50SPF i would say its the ideal one.

In fact....even if you dont use aha.....using sunscreen is so important to allow your redmarks to fade. Thast why this is imperative. Sun rays are your worst enemy when it comes to fading red marks.

Everywhere or spot treat I would say is on a case by case basis.

Since your concern are red marks then I would spot treat, and keep an eye on it. If things look uneven, then I would start applying everywhere, but I highly doubt that will happen, and the less you stress ur skin the better. So yes. Definitely start with a simpler spot treating strategy

I have been using the SPF for over a year now I understand the importance of using sunscreen for many reasons. Is hard to ind SPF 50 in a facial sunscreen tat doesn't break me out. Or that isn't full of terrible chemicals. I was peased when I found a SPF 30. I've always wanted to do peels but can't afford to get them professionally and am scared to try and do them on my own.

I've heard Paula's choice does have great AHA. I heard Dans was great too. Dans was more affordable as well. What is the ideal PH level to look for. Is Dans not a good level?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think the best sunscreen is the one you feel comfortable using everyday.

I feel physical based sunscreens are the best for us in terms of high spf, and low probability of breaking us out / low irritation. But again, everyone is different.

Exfoliation with aha's and bha is ineffective at ph higher than 4. So I feel dans will provide you some, but its borderline. However, the less exfoliation, the less irritation as well. So its worth starting with it, plus it moisturizes , so I wont say its all bad.

In summary a pH of 3.0 - 4.0 is the right minimum level for a daily use. Just keep ph values in mind when comparing products. Thats what I was trying to share with you

'Garden of wisdom' and 'diana yvonne' appear to offer some good affordable products with low ph's. I say appear since I have not used them. I did research on this stuff some time ago, but didnt move forward because as always, its not a one size fits all, and it was no longer my best route.

Here is a link if you wanna read more on ph levels:

Your welcome.

I forgot to give the values for the two products:

dans: 4.0

paulas choice: 3.5-3.8
