Had 80% success by following the caveman regimen where the only thing i do to my face is wash it with water once in a day.I have cleared up a lot.But every now and then i keep getting this "dead skin mask" which causes itching.I scratch it with my t-shirt or fingers and it gets all red and sometimes leads to inflammation. So i have come to a direct conclusion : if i don't touch my face i will not get acne! So i am going to start this suped up caveman regimen where for two weeks i am not going to touch my face or look in the mirror!
I will languish on my sofa and immerse myself in D.H Lawrence and Charles Dickens. To hell with acne! I am going to kill acne.It cannot compete with my scientific temperament
P.S-"Life is a pantomime ,we are all it's characters"-Charles Dickens
Somehow the above line by Dickens soothes my acne LOL
I stopped the caveman from the same reasons you did. Us that are acne-prone and have used products for so long are dependent on them, we can't simply stop without any implications.
Those that have always never washed their face don't have that problem because their skin is used to that and if they did use products, they'd probably break out.
I think the only way we can get off products is to take a natural approach, but still cleanse and moisturise. Today I used egg whites as a mask and I am so impressed with the condition of my skin afterwards. The yolks can also be used as a moisturising cleanser.
Good luck! I only use water normally, and I try to do a week or so of no water or washing whatsoever every once in a while. It's hard to find so much time alone with nowhere I need to be. Doing it right now actually, and my skin looks amazing. One (barely) active pimple, no oiliness, forehead congestion is fading.
here's what i think about caveman regimen.
please be careful.

It has improved my acne leaps and bounds.I was having this obsessive compulsive disorder of washing my face more than necessary times. It used to cause damaged over sensitive skin which broke out at any opportunity which was given to it .I think i never had the acne prone skin after i turned 19 (i am almost 21).Hence this caveman regimen is very effective for me.
Is it like temporary relief? Will acne come back with a vengeance? Your scaring me

You left the caveman? Did it break you out? Provide me with more details please.I want to know more about how it has affected your skin.

It didn't affect my skin that badly. I didn't break out a lot, I had a minor breakout. It was mainly the dry skin that was bothering me, especially around my nose.
I guess I just love feeling fresh too. Don't worry, it wasn't really a problem that caused me to stop, more so that I just didn't have the will power to stick it out.

@LEWISS why dont u give him the link to the post u'd done?
there were a couple more instances.
also, use the search bar to find out more experiences on cavemen regimen.
no,i am not scaring u.
see, this routine has a mixed reaction.
i gave u my take, but am sure many have seen improvement.
as for ur question, read the examples and i have heard few people say yes,its temporary.
see i am using whatever lil' logic i have - to let the dirt/debris/oil/sweat sit on ur face is not hygienic and treating.
all that matters is not breaking the natural barrier of ur skin - use of only water in moderation wont really do that.
and well,if it does and if u r healthy(over all) then it will form back.
if not, then u must work on ur internal health.
make sure ur immunity and vitamins and nutrients are all okay.
go through posts and do some more research.
off topic - i am very happy that u're indulged in such great men.
do let me know how great the books were.
which one of charles dicken are u doing btw?

Well there was this big book fair at Pragati Maidaan at Delhi. So i went there with my friends and got "Selected short stories by Charles Dickens" and the same title by D.H Lawrence.
Anyways i'm in a dilemma. The caveman regimen is working fine for me .But today i splashed water on my face and it became all white with dead skin.It was horrendous.I tried scraping it off with my fingers but to no avail. How should i exfoliate when i am not using anything abrasive on my face? I'm scared that the dead skin is going to cause a lot of harm and a new cyst is going to be born in a short while. Desperate for help (
i think dead skin and debris is usual problem with caveman regimen followers.
even LewisS had the same problem i suppose.
a mild bha wash helps.helps me atleast since i am not comfortable with the idea of physical exfoliation.
off topic : u only read short stories or do novels as well?

Well my favorite writers are Rohinton Mistry,V.S Naipaul,Khushwant Singh,Vikram Seth,Jhumpa Lahiri,Khaled Hosseini. Among others i love Vinod Mehta's "A Sanjay Story" and "Lucknow Boy".Shobha De is interesting.I love auto biographies (Jawahar Lal Nehru,Barack Obama,Nelson Mandela,Steve Jobs,Warren Buffet,Mahatama Gandhi ,Morarji Desai and Sardar Patel) . I finished all books by Agatha Christie when i was small(shallow books). Chetan bhagat, salman rushdie and david davidar are good.
P.S-My list will go on.I'm a bore

Since you're a medical student, you should read "Emperor of all maladies" .It's a great book on the true emperor of all maladies-Cancer.It'll enlighten you
Great we have started discussing books on an acne forum. LOL
off topic :
i will check that book out.thanks.
i have observed that for me to like all books by one author is not natural.
i prefer stressing on books rather than writers.
chetan bhagat and ravinder singh are not the kind of work i prefer.
although i haven't done many biographies till date,i'll soon lay my hands on some.
u're right,next time i have a say,i'll rather PM u.
I don't follow it as a specific regimen buddy. It has become a way of living now.And it serves me well.My skin is way better now, than it used to be when i washed my face with a plethora of fancy face washes. For the dead skin mask i exfoliate with honey and sugar twice a week.It works like magic.Cleans the skin, makes it supple and bright.Try it
heyya.. this is how my skin looks.. the 1st pic is 6th day of the regimen... and the 2nd one after i removed he dead skin on 8th day.... i used a cleanser wit water:( so wat do u think... i mean how long will it take to completely heal...? is your skin perfect now?? n yea m again on the regimen.. its my 3rd day after the last wash.........
n ya m on this regimen on n off since 2 months.... my face was bloody shit with pimples b4 that....
@iconzz hey I know its been a long time but I please need to know if you have found a way to stop the dead skin from building up and heal your skin ? I am dealing with the same problem for a year, I am at my wits end.
