I really wish I had taken a picture of my face a ~3-4 days ago because I literally pulled a 180. I had such success I decided to log back in to share this with you guys.
Just a few days ago I stayed home and didn't go out because of acne, now I feel like I can't be seen inside. For three years I've battled acne and cared more about it than I ever let on to my friends and family. Done the typical rounds of topical medicines with intermittent success. Then I decided to switch to a more healthy and less medicine oriented method to eliminate acne. And these last few days something clicked.I'm certain it was the combo of zinc and turmeric coupled with tons of water throughout the day.
- Every night I've been taking a zinc supplement (50mg) and starting tomorrow I'm going to add a dose in the afternoon. (tip: to anyone taking zinc for acne, you should take it immediately before falling asleep because in ~5min your stomach won't thank you.)
- Next I added turmeric to my diet - turmeric powder specifically. And I add it to everything. Literally everything and not just a pinch. I bought a container of turmeric thursday and I'm at least halfway done already. Plus this stuff tastes delicious. To those of you who put it on your face - your crazy, the stuff stains like no other and I can't imagine it being too good for the skin.
- Finally I've been drinking water religiously. I drank nothing besides water since Wednesday and I drink a lot of it. First thing in the morning I add one squeezed lemon to a water bottle, fill it, and drink that.
Besides these I've tried to eat more acne-friendly - no dairy, no dessert, nothing sugary, whole wheat, olive oil as only salad dressing, no fried foods, etc. I think this may have had an impact too, but I've done that in a more general way for several months.
Honestly, I think the difference has been the turmeric and water as I've tried zinc in the past with little results, but i included it in here to cover all my bases. Friday I had several large pimples, not tons but spaced out so it looked like I had a face full of acne. Then on Saturday most of the pimples lost inflammation and some were just a slight mark and not active. By Monday, almost all had already, for lack of a better word, flaked off my face. Now Today I only have one basically gone pimple (should be gone tomorrow) and 2-3 slight red marks where they used to be. Might sound too good to be true and it might be. Maybe I just had some crazy luck with this. However, I thought that at least I could share what happened to me with the community I got many ideas from in the past. Maybe someone will find this useful.
Good Luck guys!
I mean in about 5 minutes after taking zinc it our stomach will be very upset and nauseous.
50mg is about the upper limit for taking zinc with low risk/aid effects.

I disagree taking it before you sleep. Gives me nightmares.
okay,i'll put my point.
i am not claiming i know everything about 'this' and what i know is all correct.
but as far as i know,
vitamins of some sort - vit b complex, vit c, zinc etc should be taken within 2 hrs of a meal(say lunch or dinner)
its well absorbed with the food.u can also take it with the meal.
zinc(elemental) has a mark.its approximately 25-30mg via supplementation.(i think even Dan suggests that.not sure though)
dont forget if one is eating healthy its likely that she/he gets a fair amount of zinc form her/his meal as well.
