Is This Acne? (Pics Included)

I've never had a problem with major breakouts except this past year.

About once a month I had a slight breakout. It was more than what I ever had as a teenager, but after a few days they went away. I was pretty worried because I'm not used to acne! But now, it's gotten so bad I need to do something about it.

I got a kitten at the end of March, and since then I have had nonstop bumps all over my face and now my neck. They don't itch and so far none have come to a head.

But I end up picking at them anyway because they drive me nuts. So they start out flesh-colored, but since I pick at them, they become large and red and gross. My face itself feels sort of sore, but I think it's from picking at it. It feels greasy or oily, but that might be from picking at it as well.

I wash my face throughout the day and hardly wear any make up. I use Phisoderm and have for years. I also use St. Ives apricot scrub.

So my questions is this- Recently I have had more breakouts than the past years, but since I've gotten my kitten it's been much more prominent. Do you think the nightly rubbing of her face and fur on my face is causing this outbreak? Again, they don't itch, just feel like pimples under the skin. I'm including pictures of my face after a good steaming so you can see.

Please- any opinions or suggestions would be helpful. I think I'm going to call a dermatologist tomorrow anyway, but I'm still curious right now. Thanks!!

Absolutely. For a person who does not have acne prone skin, having such close contact with an animal might not be a problem. For us, definite no,no. Anything coming into contact with your face should be sterile so no more close contact with your pet. Also, the apricot scrub can be irritating your already irritated skin so discontinue use for a while and see what happens.

Thank you! I do want to stress that I've never had acne-prone skin though. It's just over the past year that it's been having breakouts, and now the past 2 months that I've had it this bad. I wonder why my skin has taken such a turn? I guess I'm lucky it wasn't like this in high school!!

Also never had allergies or allergic reactions.

Is there any facial cleanser you recommend? Or ingredient to look for?

Hey. How old are you? Are you in your early twenties because while I did have a minor problem with acne during my teenage years, I had clear skin from the age of 16 to 21 and then I started getting hormonal acne, so it may be your hormones. Also, have you recently taken anything that may have affected your body? I say this because this happened to me twice. The first time was two years ago. I was going on vacation, and while I'm skinny and I know I am, I just wanted to shed a few pounds without having to do much work so I decided to take diet pills. Well two days after I started taking them, I got a huge, cystic painful pimple in between my chests, and I didn't put the two and two together at first, until the next day I woke up and had two more. They weren't noticeable but honestly, they were so painful and one of them was exactly where my underwire of my bra was so it constantly was being rubbed against. I knew it had to be from my diet pills because I may have had 1 pimple in that area in my life and it was tiny and then when I went to my dermatologist I told her about it and she said that it most likely was from my diet pills (after i got a huge lecture for taking them). Then last summer I took the morning after pill, and less than a week later my back broke out majorly. and I never had a problem with my back. I figured it would just go away but it just kept coming so I finally made an appointment at my dermatologist and she said it was from the morning after pill). So I took an antiobiotic for like 2 weeks, and used some prescribed back wash, and while it's 10 times better than it was, I still get minor pimples on my back from it almost a year later(although I haven't had a new one since almost march so hopefully it stays that way). I showed my derm my back again probably back in november or december and wanted to know why I was still getting pimples, and she said that it could take months for your hormones to go back to normal after taking such a high dose of hormones.

Yea is never to late to get acne so it might be hormonal.

Good point, ewwpimples...I should take a close look at what I've been eating and taking. The only medication/pill/vitamin thing that's different is I started taking a pro-biotic for yeast infections because I got one and haven't had one of those since high school either!

My age is 28. Are my hormones changing at this age?

I want to post a picture of my face today after not allowing my cat to sleep with me last night. (It was sooooo hard sad.png ) I'll be right back with some pics.

My skin feels a lot dryer and normal than it has been lately, which is good. It's felt so greasy lately. So although I see a bit of improvement, a part of me thinks it might be a coincidence? Also, note that this is not right after a steaming so they aren't as prominent.

I don't know, do you see a difference or do you think it's because they're not steamed? And the red ones are red because I picked at them and made them bleed, trying so hard to get something out of them. But nothing comes out, just clear liquid and blood.

I don't do much dairy...I guess I drink a lot of pre-made chocolate milk. What about peanut butter? I've been eating a lot of peanut buttered english muffins the last few months. Like literally four a day.
