i'd just leave it alone, its possibly a cyst (acne that is under the skin instead of on the surface) and they tend to look red and worse than they really are. Leave it alone and if it doesnt go away after 4 weeks go back to your doctor

i dont think its bp causing it.

yes,i agree its probably just a cystic papule or pustule(its for pus?!)

leave it alone for atleast 2 weeks or more.

u can keep applying bp on this.

dont fuss with the surrounding.

apply bp only and only on the mouth of the acne.

Hi guys, thanks for responding. It's not a cyst because this was a pimple that BP helped get rid of. And now its flat. This has happened to be in the past. Acne medication makes my skin go red. Probably because its really sensitive. Has anyone had any experience with redness because of BP? It doesn't hurt or anything. And it looks like this today (I've uploaded a new picture) You can see that it's flat. The red dot in the centre is probably just PIH.

Please tell me that it will go away? Please do! Anyone with similar experiences please share. Should I see a doctor or just wait it out? (I'm Indian BTW)

which ever area i apply(spot treat) becomes red and more noticeable.

so using it unless its a big active acne sounds like a bad idea.=(

Hey Aanabill, thank you so much for responding. I'm worried as the redness has not gone away and it has been almost a week that I have been using a steroidal cream to get rid of the redness. I am just worried as I hope this is not a chemical burn. Your reply now puts my mind at rest. How long does yours take to go away?

I'm done with BP i guess. Its unfortunate as its one of the best treatments out there. I'm planning to do a honey mask daily but want my skin to get back to normal first! I'm also looking at using a kojic acid cream to treat the PIH on my chin.

as far as i know most lightening creams tends to clog pores so please be careful.

also i found niltan slow and pretty useless for myself.

although its anyway claimed 'mild'.

as for the redness.

after the actual head/zit is completely healed..the redness will take some more time to go away.atleast wait 3 weeks to a mnth.to completely see result.

the scar/pih will take even more time.

apart from using simple non-reddening creams like clindamycin or faceclin dont irritate that place.

wash with a gentle wash.

i use saslic.and i feel its good.

also,never say never!=)

god forsakes,but in case u ever have an active zit u'll need bp(just a dot on the head/mouth of it) to heal faster/better.=)

Hey aanabill, thanks for responding. My issue is that this is not a pimple as the surface is flat. The place is red because of using BP on it when I had a zit there which has now healed. How long will the redness due to BP persist? It has been over a week now.

For PIH, I've heard that Clearz (Dr. Reddy's- Kojic acid and Vit C cream) and Glyco 6 (Glycolic acid 6% cream) really help.

darling the redness might have increased a bit for bp but its also a result of inflammation.

redness due to bp takes abt 2-3 weeks i think.

but the redness is also contributed for that place had some sort of inflamed vessels etc so that will take time.

i suggest u dont tease it mush and give it time.may be a mnth.

if u see absolutely no result,then u might need help.

The redness is as a result of the irritation caused by the BP cream. This is normal as it takes your skin a while to become accustomed to the irritating effects caused by BP. Because the area has gone soft it is clear that the bulk of the infection caused by the spot has cleared and it is just the surface of you skin that is still effected. I wouldn't have thought BP should have been prescribed in your case. If you only get the occasional pimple the cons out weigh the pros. BP cream is more effective as a prevention tactic as opposed to curing all ready existing spots. If I was you I would leave it alone in order to reduce any further irritation and just wash and moisturise.

DonnieP- Thank you for replying. Yes, you are right. I can see your point. I'm going to leave my skin alone. I did this for 2 years (just cleaned and moisturised) and my skin was perfect. I don't think I broke out even during that time of the month. I think for people like me with mild problems, less is more. And yes, the key is moisturisation, else the skin will end up over producing sebum to make up for a missed day, resulting in a break out.

As of today, I have this stubborn dry spot ( whoch has reduced quite a bit thankfully), 2 active pimples on the chin and a couple of PIH marks on the skin. My chin broke out because of threading which I started recently. I'm looking a way to prevent this. Once this is sorted, I'm leaving my skin alone.

aanabil- Hi! Sure I'll let you know. Will post all the creams and the ingredients here. I'm looking at laser hair removal for the upper lip and chin. Waiting for an appointment, going to a reputed derm :-P)

Progress on my red patch- I've attached the picture taken a minute ago. How I managed this- TURMERIC MASK ) which I used just once last night.

Recipe- I mixed about a teaspoon of gram flour (We call this Besan in India) with a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon honey and a teaspoon of unboiled milk. I mixed this up and applied a layer on my face. Let it dry for 20 min and washed off with water. There was minimal yellow staining after washing (I'm considered to be very fair skinned in India) The trick to not look jaundice stricken is to not exceed more than a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric I think.

I'm trying a honey and turmeric mask today as I'm not too fond of the gram flour exfoliating my face on a daily basis because of skin sensitivity. People who think their skin can take it can do this everyday but please ensure that you DO NOT scrub on active pimples. This will cause a mark for sure.

aanabill- I think us Indians cannot be allergic to besan as our ancestors have been using it on their faces for like forever 😛 Jokes apart, I'm glad it worked for me ) it is still seen but not as bad as it was. I hope it completely goes away )

the problem with benzoic peroxide, is that YES, it kills the bacteria, but it darkens the skin

if you are applying on specific areas, overtime it will darken the skin, and leave darker red marks, is a tradeoff
