Face Wipes + Sensitive Skin = Acne

Just thought I'd share something that may or may not be helpful. Around a year ago I had an addiction, one which was ruining my skin. That addiction was...cleansing my face. I'd use around 10-15 face wipes a day thinking it was beneficial. The minute I used one, I felt the oil that I'd stripped from my skin returning twice as thick, so I'd use another and another. This continued throughout the whole day until I went to bed at night.

My face was constantly itchy, constantly greasy, full of whiteheads and just in tatters. I had friends telling me to stop using so many as it may be causing my skin to become irritated and I didn't listen. One day I woke up with 7 new whiteheads, the worst breakout I'd ever had. This made me realise that what I was doing wasn't helping at all. I threw away my half-empty pack of face wipes went out and bought an oil-free cleanser, toner and moisturiser. I vowed that I'd only cleanse twice a day, it was hard but I had to do it. That was the day my skin began to rejuvenate. I won't say I still don't get acne, because I do, but compared to before...it's so much healthier (not clear, but healthy). I no longer feel like my face is dripping with oil 24/7 and I get a couple of pimples every few days that heal really quickly.

This isn't the route cause of acne for everybody, by no means whatsoever. But if you're like I was and think it's helping to over-cleanse your skin, think again. Twice a day will at least irritation as possible is key.

Here's an article about the use of face wipes and the chemicals used to preserve them:

Face Wipes: So convenient, so bad for sensitive skin!
