I am a 29 year old female and for the last 3 years I have suffered from tiny closed comedones covering my entire face. You know if you have these because they aren't large or particularly visible, but they give your skin a rough looking texture, they are very apparent in the light(sunlight especially) makeup makes them look worse, and they are easily felt when you run your fingers over your skin you can feel hundreds maybe thousands of these clogged pores all over!
I've tried everything for them with only slight success! So, I, also, suffer from recurrent and constant urinary tract infections. Some time ago it clicked that these two were probably related. I have learned, through research, that acne is often caused by our body's purging excess toxins through our skin. I have found that organic apple cider vinegar with the mother helps with my UTI problem, but I would only take it sporadically. In order to test my theory that my body was trying to rid itself of the uti bacteria through my skin I went on an acv treatment plan and sure enough after two weeks my three year acne problem is all but clear! Hallelujah!!!!
You may not have a UTI but this could work for you and if it doesn't I'm sure there is another remedy involving diet and cleansing that will! Most of all listen to yourself. I knew this was my problem for so long but could never find research to support it so I was reluctant to take action(as acv is so intense) but I'm so glad I finally got past that mental block and did what I needed to not just for my acne but my poor kidneys, as well! Best of luck guys
I've had this problem for a while now, all those comedones...so annoying. Glad to hear you found a cure
When I tried ACV for 2 days I got GI problems. Because I fear I might be going down the path of IBS, I stopped....but maybe I should try again.
How did you take it? And how much? Did you mix it in something?
Thanks! Amd I'm not too sure about how acv does with IBS, maybe it was coincidental?!
If you give it another shot I did 2-3 TBS of ACV in about 8-10 oz of water, 3 times per day.
Just make sure you use organic unfiltered unpasteruized ACV with "the mother" braggs is the brand I know of and use(wholefoods)
Just looked this up and this poster says acv is actually helpful for relieving IBS....see below!
Apple Cider Vinegar creates good flora with the proper amount of acid for your gut- Despite what you might think, your gut may not be capable of digesting food properly because it does not have enough acid to process food. The little acid it does have is used to yell at your body for sending it toxic foods. If you want to eat toxic food, raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar is by far the best way to create a perfect acid/alkaline environment that will help your body digest cooked foods, break down non-foods and refined sugar that you have put into your body. I take apple cider vinegar daily for health maintainance and I have not had a day of sickness since. Give Apple Cider Vinegar a try.
Yes this does work! I've tried it before for a couple weeks and saw improvement in my closed comedones. I just couldn't drink it anymore because it was making me nauseous haha! You mix 2 tablespoons with about 8 oz of ice cold water( liked it better this way) and drink as fast as you can. I was also eating a of of Dannon activia at the time which helped too, I think.
Right now I'm using de la Cruz 10% sulfur ointment, mandelic acid toner 5% and a 3% bha moisturizer. Oh man did these things make a difference! My skin looks smooth now it took a month and had an initial breakout but my skin is looking good!
Sulfur and bha/aha work amazing for closed comedones.
Another thing is to eat at least a couple big servings of fresh veggies a day. I like cucumber with lemon juice on it as a snack. Vegetables have MSM( organosulfur compound ) that we need to clear our bodies of toxins and is just good for overall health. That is assuming that the vegetables you're eating are not grown in the greenhouse. MSM comes from rainwater. It's great for skin, hair and nails. There are also MSM supplements you can buy.
Update! Sorry for bump to top, but I thought this might be useful for anyone who stumbles across this thread.
I tried taking ACV again, the good stuff (Bragg's), ~1.5 tablespoons 2x a day in half a glass of water, morning and night. Did this for about 3 weeks. Unlike last time, I did not experience adverse GI reaction, so that was good. However, I did not see any improvement in my acne, which I'll describe as many many very small comedones, some squeezeable with stuff in them (white stringy, and sand grain-like keratin), others not, all over my cheeks, forehead, and somewhat on my chin. Also have blackheads on nose, but they are minor. No improvement in any.
I think the next thing to investigate is cosmetic acne. I don't wear makeup, but I have used oil cleansing many times in the recent past. I am now trying the benzoyl peroxide regimen with moderate success (although much dry skin). I think it may eventually clear me. Using only the cleanser sold on this site, the benzoyl peroxide sold on this site, and yogurt/honey/clove masks (which are not the culprit, as I last used these months ago).
Anyways, I might update again if I remember. Good luck everyone!
